Ed Sheeran kicks off his Australia and New Zealand tour today \u2014 and he wants the fans to get involved in his setlist.<\/p>\n
The English pop superstar took to social media yesterday to tease the first show, which will take place at Auckland\u2019s Go Media Stadium tonight (January 16th).<\/p>\n
\u201cSo tomorrow, if you are at the gig, there will be a big thing on the screen before it begins where it will say \u2018text in song recommendations,’\u201d he said in an Instagram Story<\/a>, adding that \u201cthere\u2019s five slots in the gig where I\u2019ll play any song that you guys decide.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo whatever song you wanna hear at the gig, go look at the screen, text it, and it\u2019ll basically tally up the songs and I will play those songs, whatever the song is.<\/p>\n \u201cI will learn it before the show\u2026 so surprise me and see you tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n After Auckland, Sheeran\u2019s tour will take him to\u00a0Wellington, Christchurch, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide through January, February, and March (see full dates below).\u00a0In order to meet demand, the musician had to add multiple new shows to the run.<\/p>\n Sheeran\u00a0is hugely popular in these parts, having already sold 2.5 million tickets across Australia and New Zealand to date.<\/p>\n \n Get your daily dose of everything happening in Australian\/New Zealand music and globally. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n The tour follows the release of his new album, Play<\/em>, which was released in September.
