Prime Video<\/a> has released a first look at its upcoming Tomb Raider <\/em>reboot series, starring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.<\/p>\n

In the image, released on Thursday, Turner is dressed in Croft\u2019s signature outfit: a green tank top, black shorts, shades and dual pistols. The Game of Thrones <\/em>actress is the latest high-profile name to bring the iconic video game character to life. Angelina Jolie famously portrayed Croft in two films released in 2001 and 2003, while Alicia Vikander portrayed the globe-trotting archaeologist in a 2018 reboot film.<\/p>\n

Mission: Impossible \u2014 The Final Reckoning <\/em>actress Hayley Atwell also voiced Croft in a Netflix animated series, which ran for two seasons until 2025.<\/p>\n

The Tomb Raider <\/em>television series, which is currently in production at Prime Video, was originally greenlighted in 2024. Turner\u2019s attachment to the project was first reported<\/a> later that same year. Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie and August Wittgenstein are also set to appear in the series.<\/p>\n

Primetime Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning writer and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge will serve as the series\u2019 creator, writer and executive producer.<\/p>\n

Lara Croft emerged as a female action icon following the release of the first Tomb Raider <\/em>video game<\/a> in 1996. The original Tomb Raider <\/em>saga has since spawned several more games across three distinctive timelines. Two more video games are also on the way: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis <\/em>and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, <\/em>which are set to be released in 2026 and 2027, respectively.<\/p>\n

Turner, who also shared the first-look photo on Instagram<\/a>, previously spoke about her excitement in bringing Croft to the small screen for Prime Video.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft,\u201d Turner said in a previous statement<\/a>. \u201cShe\u2019s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many \u2014 and I am giving everything I\u2019ve got. They\u2019re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can\u2019t wait for you all to see what we have cooking.\u201d<\/p>\n

During a recent appearance on The Julia Cunningham Show<\/em>, Turner dished on the rigorous training<\/a> she\u2019s undergone to prepare for filming.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been doing eight hours a day, five days a week, since February last year of training, so it\u2019s been a lot,\u201d Turner said, before revealing what she\u2019s discovered about her body in the process. \u201cI\u2019ve learned I have a perpetual back problem, but I also realized that it\u2019s much easier to kind of build muscle if you\u2019ve ever worked out before in your life, which I never had, so it has taken me months and months and months to get into good shape. That\u2019s what I\u2019ve learned.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
