Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/strong><\/a> made the shocking decision in 2020 to leave the royal family and make a new life for themselves in Montecito, Calif.<\/p>\n Still, the 41-year-old seems to be homesick.<\/p>\n “On one level, Harry is content in California,\u201d royal author Christopher Andersen<\/strong> told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> on January 13, adding that on the other hand, he must feel some remorse that \u201cneither he nor his children are sharing in their royal heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n Harry and Meghan, 44, share son Prince Archie<\/strong>, 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet<\/strong>, 4.<\/p>\n These days, \u201cHarry is so happy living in the private world,\u201d an insider told the publication. \u201cEven though he was raised [as a royal],<\/a> he was never comfortable in that environment. He feels more like himself here.\u201d<\/p>\n While living in England alongside The Firm, Harry \u201chad this crazy schedule and would come back through the palace gates and couldn\u2019t go out or have a personal life.\u201d<\/p>\n When Harry and the Suits<\/em> star left the royal family, the duke was also stripped of his military honors<\/a>.<\/p>\n Between 2005 and 2015, Harry served as a member of the British Army<\/a> and was deployed twice on active duty to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n Losing his military titles \u201cwas extremely difficult” for Harry since being in the army “was a big part of his life,” the insider noted.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople often forget that Harry is at his core an army officer,\u201d Andersen told Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cHe\u2019s all about structure, honor and duty \u2014 things that are missing from his life in Montecito.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cHarry\u2019s life was far more structured in the U.K. He had responsibilities and official events to attend,” historian Marlene Koenig<\/strong> added.<\/p>\n While Meghan has been keeping busy with her As Ever lifestyle brand and her Netflix cooking show With Love, Meghan<\/em>, Harry is still trying to find his footing in business. “Harry hasn\u2019t settled into a permanent position,\u201d Koenig said. \u201cHe\u2019s spending time with his young children and being a hands-on dad.
