The new \u201cGame Of Thrones\u201d prequel \u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u201d<\/a> premieres on HBO on Sunday, Jan. 18.<\/p>\n

The fantasy drama takes place about 90 years before the events of \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d and about 80 years after the events of \u201cHouse of the Dragon.\u201d The series is set during a relatively peaceful time in Westeros. <\/p>\n

The famous Targaryen family plays a role in \u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.\u201d The show focuses on Prince Aegon \u201cEgg\u201d Targaryen (Dexter Sol Ansell), a squire for the lowborn hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall, a.k.a. Dunk (Peter Claffey). <\/p>\n

Aegon, who is just a boy in \u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,\u201d is the grandfather of Aerys II, the Mad King often mentioned in \u201cGame of Thrones,\u201d and the great-grandfather of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). He is also the great-great-great grandson of Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock and Emma D\u2019Arcy) from \u201cHouse of the Dragon.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u201d is based on George R. R. Martin\u2019s novella series \u201cTales of Dunk and Egg.\u201d The author also penned the \u201cSong of Ice and Fire\u201d series that inspired \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d and \u201cHouse of the Dragon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like the novellas it\u2019s based upon, \u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u201d is more humorous and lighthearted than \u201cGame of Thrones.\u201d While the original HBO series chronicles political turmoil and the apocalyptic threat of the White Walkers, \u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u201d focuses mainly on Dunk and Egg\u2019s travels and jousts.<\/p>\n

The new HBO series stars Claffey, Ansell, Finn Bennett (Prince Aerion \u201cBrightflame\u201d Targaryen), Bertie Carvel (Prince Baelor \u201cBreakspear\u201d Targaryen), Tanzyn Crawford (Tanselle), Daniel Ings (Ser Lyonel Baratheon) and Sam Spruell (Prince Maekar Targaryen). <\/p>\n
