Reminiscing on a time when she and a partner weren’t “practically roommates,” she sings later in the track, “I’m touching myself looking at porn \/ ‘Cause you don’t even look my way no more.”<\/p>\n
In a statement about the single, Duff explained, \u201c’Roommates’ is a song about when life is life-ing, babe.”<\/p>\n
The performer, who’s married to husband Matthew Koma<\/a>, continued, “It\u2019s that ache for a wilder, freer time \u2014 before the days were swallowed by carpools, budget talks, grocery runs and letting old or new insecurities slip in. It\u2019s the restless hum of wanting to find your way back \u2014 to your rhythm, to your person, to yourself.\u201d<\/p>\nThe song’s music video (directed by Matty Peacock) finds Duff performing the song at home with a male romantic partner sitting nearby as she ruminates on their relationship.
