Saturday Night Live <\/i>alum Chris Redd<\/strong> has addressed speculation that his former costar Kenan Thompson<\/strong><\/a> allegedly assaulted him in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenan did not hit me,\u201d Redd, 40, told TMZ<\/a> photographers on Thursday, January 15. \u201cPeople took it like Kenan hit me. He didn\u2019t hit me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Redd was also asked if he thought that Thompson, 47, could have been involved in the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, man, I found out who did it,\u201d he told the outlet when questioned about whether Thompson orchestrated the attack. \u201cIt is what it is. That\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While some A-list beefs seem inevitable \u2014 Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B, for example, or Jef Holm vs. Arie Luyendyk Jr. \u2014 others seem to come out of nowhere. Thompson has not publicly addressed Redd\u2019s remarks. Us Weekly <\/i>has reached out for comment.<\/p>\n

Redd was punched outside New York City\u2019s Comedy Store in 2022, according to Entertainment Weekly<\/i><\/a>. The outlet, citing an NYPD report, claimed that Redd was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital but there has not been a further update in the investigation.<\/p>\n

Redd starred alongside Thompson on SNL<\/i> from 2017 to 2022. After Redd\u2019s exit from the variety series, he started dating Thompson\u2019s ex-wife, Christina Evangeline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cChristina and Chris started dating [at] the beginning of this year,\u201d a source exclusively told Us Weekly <\/i><\/a>in September 2022, noting the duo met before Redd joined SNL. <\/i>\u201cThey\u2019ve always been very close. He was there for her last year through some of the hardest times of her life. She seems to be the happiest she\u2019s ever been. Her relationship with Chris is great and it\u2019s normal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The insider further stressed that Evangeline\u2019s romance with Redd didn\u2019t cause any bad blood with Thompson.<\/p>\n

\u201cConversations had been had and everyone in their circle knew about the relationship prior to the news being released,\u201d the source told Us<\/i>. \u201cKenan\u2019s dating other people [too]. He wishes her happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thompson, the longest-running SNL <\/i>cast member, and Evangeline, 36, were married from 2011 to 2020. Us <\/i>broke the news<\/a> in April 2022 that their breakup was mutual.<\/p>\n

Thompson and Evangeline share daughters Georgia, 11, and Gianna, 7, and now amicably coparent their children. As the girls have gotten older, they\u2019ve also started understanding their famous dad\u2019s career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve seen the Good Burger <\/i>[movies]. They enjoyed them. I\u2019m not sure if they\u2019ve watched the shows necessarily,\u201d Thompson exclusively told Us <\/i>in April 2025<\/a>. \u201cThey haven\u2019t really expressed that, but yeah, they told me that they liked Good Burger, <\/i>so it holds up.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Thompson, Georgia and Gianna also keep up with a handful of his SNL <\/i>sketches.<\/p>\n
