It\u2019s a new year, so why not try out new things. <\/p>\n

Jenna Bush Hager, \u201cToday\u201d show host and daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, is turning heads with her announcement of a new role that she has stepped into.<\/p>\n

During the episode of \u201cToday\u201d that aired on Jan. 14<\/a>, the 44-year-old mother of three confirmed her involvement with a new mystery drama series called, \u201cProtection\u201d from creator Josh Safran and Hager that was greenlit by NBC, according to the network<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cWho knew I would ever do something like this, ladies and gentlemen?\u201d she announced to viewers. \u201cWe have been working on this for a while, but we are working on a show called \u2018Protection\u2019 along with Josh Safran and my colleague Ben Spector.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the outlet\u2019s description of the show<\/a>, the new drama is centered on a U.S. Marshal who \u201cfalls in the line of duty\u201d and \u201ca seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy as a family of law enforcement agents becomes the target of a mysterious assassin.\u201d <\/p>\n

She also shared the news on her Instagram Stories with a screenshot of Deadline<\/a>\u2019s coverage of the show. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a day!!!\u201d she wrote in the caption, tagging Safran. <\/p>\n

Though she\u2019s set to executive produce the series, right now, it\u2019s uncertain if her new role will impact her work on \u201cToday.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hager hosts the fourth hour of \u201cToday\u201d on the new show \u201cToday with Jenna & Sheinelle.\u201d<\/p>\n

For almost a year, she hosted the show by herself while NBC searched for a replacement after Hoda Kotb retired from the co-host position last January. Just last month, Sheinelle Jones stepped into the role as co-host of the show, alongside Hager. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
