Matt Damon has recently made bold statement about cancel culture in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

The Oscar-winning star shares his honest thoughts about cancellation during an appearance on Joe Rogan\u2019s US<\/i> podcast to promote his new movie, The Rip<\/i> along with Ben Affleck.<\/p>\n

The show host asks The Martian<\/i> actor about the issue, saying that the cancellation meant \u201cone infraction is exaggerated to the fullest extent and a person is subsequently cast out of civilisation for life\u201d.<\/p>\n

To which, Matt responds, \u201cI bet some of those people would have preferred to go to jail for 18 months or whatever, and then come out and say, \u2018I paid my debt. Like, we\u2019re done. Like, can we be done?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thing about that \u2013 getting kind of excoriated, [and] publicly like that \u2013 [is that] it just never ends,\u201d continues the 55-year-old.<\/p>\n

Matt adds, \u201cIt just will follow you to the grave.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in 2017, Matt was called out by the actress Minnie Driver, who starred alongside\u00a0 him\u00a0 in Good Will Hunting<\/i> and dated him for several years, after he said that the #MeToo movement was \u201cwonderful\u201d and \u201cnecessary\u201d but that \u201cthere\u2019s a difference between patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation and that those behaviours need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn\u2019t be conflated\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Minnie said on X, formerly known as Twitter, \u201cIt\u2019s so interesting how men with all these opinions about women\u2019s differentiation between sexual misconduct, assault and rape reveal themselves to be utterly tone deaf and as a result, systemically part of the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
