And then obviously connecting with the hotel and the condo.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019ll be an outdoor concert stage and it\u2019ll be electric on game day. But our campus environment is already electric on game day. That\u2019s not really why we\u2019re doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Instead, he\u2019s doing it for the use the site will get through the year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat could mean that there\u2019s concerts going on (or) we have a critical mass of people coming \u2014 baseball, softball games, basketball games,\u201d White said. \u201cOr it could just mean that it\u2019s a Wednesday night and maybe there\u2019s a game on the road and this is a great place to go watch the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOr maybe it\u2019s just a place that our students, our faculty, our staff, the Knoxville community want to come and enjoy some live music on the stage or a night out overlooking the Tennessee River in the shadow of Neyland Stadium. So I think it\u2019s going to be an iconic setup.\u201d<\/p>\n

White said the funding for the Neyland Entertainment District is \u201ca public-private partnership\u201d with Tennessee leasing the land while the 865 Neyland Project Team does the construction. \u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re building the entertainment district, they\u2019re building the hotel, the condo,\u201d White said. \u201cThey take all the business risk there.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that there\u2019s \u201ca minor revenue lift\u201d for Tennessee\u2019s athletic department but added that it was \u201cnothing significant.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s never been a driver of why we\u2019re doing it,\u201d White said. \u201c(It\u2019s) more about the experience \u2026 beyond just the athletic department. <\/p>\n
\u201cFrom an athletics perspective, will it be a lift for our student-athletes and our fans? Yeah, it certainly will. But it\u2019s much bigger than that. (It\u2019s for) the entire university community and Knoxville community. I think it\u2019s going to be really cool.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
