Meryl Streep has once again ignited speculation around reprising her role as Donna in a potential Mamma Mia 3<\/i>.<\/p>\n

While Donna\u2019s death was revealed in the 2018 sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again<\/i>, Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd has sparked fresh optimism among fans.<\/p>\n

“She can be brought back from the dead \u2014 everybody can be brought back from the dead in the movies \u2014 and in the movies, she\u2019s fantastic,” the 74-year-old actor teased during the 2026 Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

Skarsg\u00e5rd, who played Streep\u2019s former love interest in the film, added, “A lot of people are working on it to bring her back.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Devil Wears Prada <\/i>star has also been open about returning to the role, saying, “If there\u2019s an idea that excites me, I\u2019m totally there. I\u2019m up for anything.”<\/p>\n

“I told Judy [the producer] that if she could figure out a way to reincarnate Donna, I\u2019m into that. Or it could be like one of those soap operas where Donna comes back and reveals it was really her twin sister who died,” Streep told Vogue\u2019s Oral History of Mamma Mia! <\/i>published in 2023.<\/p>\n

She joked, “We may have to call it Grand-Mamma Mia! by the time we make it!”<\/p>\n
