Tom Cruise bowed to Katherine Jenkins after mistaking her for a member of the royal family.<\/p>\n
The 45-year-old singer was among the performers at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee concert outside Buckingham Palace in London in 2022 and she’s revealed the mix-up happened after she bumped into the Hollywood actor backstage and was given a formal greeting by the superstar’s military escort.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the Telegraph newspaper, Katherine explained: “I … met Tom Cruise at the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee concert.<\/p>\n
“The backstage was super tight \u2013 a thin corridor on both sides. I had on the most enormous Cinderella-style dress.<\/p>\n
“As I was getting ready to go out on stage, Tom was walking off, being escorted on either side by military personnel. Because I do so much with the military, they knew me.<\/p>\n
“They both bowed their heads and said \u201cgood evening ma\u2019am\u201d at which point, because there wasn\u2019t space, one of them pushed Tom out of my way and almost body-slammed him against the wall.<\/p>\n
“I saw the confusion on his face but there was no time to stop and say hello.”<\/p>\n
Katherine revealed she later met the actor properly and she was convinced he’d mistaken her for a member of the Queen’s family.<\/p>\n
She said: “After the performance, when we did meet, he gave me a very strange handshake\/nod\/bow thing. Maybe he\u2019d got confused and thought I was a royal?”<\/p>\n
It comes after the soprano previously admitted she refuses to speak for a day before her gigs.<\/p>\n
Katherine – who has children Aaliyah, eight, and six-year-old Xander with her husband of 10 years Andrew Levitas – won\u2019t utter a sound for 24 hours ahead of shows to preserve her voice \u2013 even if it means being unable to control her kids.<\/p>\n
She told The Times newspaper: “I don\u2019t have alcohol, I drink loads of water and I stop going to noisy places so I don\u2019t overuse my voice. I want to stay focused.<\/p>\n
“In the 24 hours before the show I won\u2019t speak at all. The voice is a muscle and when you whisper, you\u2019re still vibrating the cords and not getting the rest.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019ve got a six year old and an eight year old, and they find it hilarious that they can do whatever they like to mummy and I can\u2019t speak back, so the house becomes a big game of charades.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
