He has sold out stadium shows and earned several No. 1 hits at country radio.<\/p>\n That success<\/a> isn\u2019t lost on him.<\/p>\n In fact, the country music<\/a> icon, 47, says \u2014 in his own words \u2014 \u201cI\u2019ve done more than I\u2019ve ever set out to do.\u201d<\/p>\n While appearing on Dax Shepard<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard<\/strong>, Stapleton further revealed that he has been mulling over the idea of early retirement<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u200b\u200b\u201cI\u2019m at a bit of a crossroads. I don\u2019t know when I\u2019m gonna make another record or write a new song, I\u2019m probably not really in the mood. And that\u2019s ok with me\u2026.,\u201d Stapleton explained while sharing his honest thoughts on the next steps of his career. \u201cI don\u2019t know how much longer I\u2019ll even go play.\u201d<\/p>\n Stapleton, who shares five children with his wife, Morgane<\/strong>, reasoned that although he\u2019s accomplished so much, he couldn\u2019t have done it all without the support of his family<\/a>. Putting a lot of thought into his future, he noted that it\u2019s important to him that he give back to his kids the gift of time.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to make a thoughtful decision about what I do with the rest of the time I have on this earth\u2026.I\u2019ve got babies. I\u2019ve got some that are almost out of the house. They gave up a lot for me to be sitting here with you,\u201d the Kentucky native explained. \u201cI owe them some things, I think, some time in particular. I\u2019ve done more than I\u2019ve ever set out to do.\u201d<\/p>\n So what\u2019s next?<\/p>\n Stapleton says, \u201cWell. Now I have to get a new dream.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s important to find that. For me, fuel is the search,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m gonna have to search for something. I\u2019m gonna have to hunt for something. I don\u2019t know what that is or where it\u2019s going to come from\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n Although Stapleton believes some form of retirement could be looming, he promises, \u201cI\u2019m not hanging up my spurs.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just saying I\u2019m looking for the fire. I need the fire,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I want the fire to lead. Sometimes that\u2019s more elusive now than it used to be. \u2026 I do think that I\u2019ve done enough. It\u2019s not about doing something else. It\u2019s about, for me, wanting to do something else. I think I owe it to the people that might listen to what I do or come see me play live that they get 100% of whatever I\u2019ve got left in me.
