In case you haven\u2019t visited downtown lately (or seen it on national sports broadcasts), construction has been moving at a rapid clip over fall and winter months in what used to be the Gulch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n A year ago, Centennial Yards\u2019 Entertainment District was <\/span>barely<\/span><\/a> coming out of the ground at the doorstep of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, and a recently <\/span>renamed<\/span><\/a> MARTA station. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Today, Centennial Yards has topped out its third-tallest structure to date as a cornerstone of the Entertainment District, while secondary buildings including a new Live Nation music venue and Cosm immersive technology experience round into shape.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The recently topped-out hotel\u2014a 14-story lodge previously described by Centennial Yards leadership as boutique\u2014has risen at the edge of the Entertainment District farthest from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \n<\/a> \n We\u2019ve asked Centennial Yards reps for more information on when the next hotel might deliver\u2014and who might operate it\u2014and we\u2019ll update this story with additional details that come. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n No other details about the district\u2019s second hotel beyond its height have been disclosed to date.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Construction progress across the 8-acre\u00a0<\/span>Entertainment District\u2014set to span roughly 470,000 square feet\u2014is evidence of how Centennial Yards is aiming to emerge as a culinary and social hub in time for 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, which kick off in Atlanta in June.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Recent signings at the Entertainment District include Busy Bee Caf\u00e9, Shake Shack, and The Irish Exit, a New York City Irish pub, among others.\u00a0<\/span>Cosm<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0is on pace to open at some point this year, too.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \n \n The\u00a0<\/span>Entertainment District is envisioned as a central component of the 50-acre redevelopment expected to cost at least $5 billion and add several city blocks to downtown, with assistance from a record City of Atlanta tax incentives package.\u00a0Plans also call for roughly 2,000 new residences eventually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n A four-story Centennial Yards <\/span>hotel project<\/span><\/a> is also moving forward on vacant land where downtown meets Castleberry Hill, along Ellis Street.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Completed buildings include Centennial Yards\u2019 first apartment tower\u00a0<\/span>The Mitchell<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0(18 stories tall) and the upscale new\u00a0<\/span>Hotel Phoenix<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, an 18-story lodge with\u00a0<\/span>292 guest rooms, 15 suites, and a penthouse.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Find more context and imagery in the gallery above.
