It felt like this was inevitable.\u00a0Basically, I’d\u00a0worked with Dede Gardner, the producer, before on\u00a0Women Talking<\/em>, and she had mentioned to me when we were doing press for\u00a0Women Talking<\/em>\u00a0that I should read the book because she was thinking of making it. And on reading the book, I realized that it was a book that had meant a lot to\u00a0a\u00a0very, very close\u00a0friend of mine. And so, the two of those things coming together\u00a0was\u00a0quite strange. Like\u00a0the-universe-telling-me-to-do-something type-moment.\u00a0<\/p>\n What was the process of working with the birds?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n I learned how to be around these wild creatures totally with Helen in my mind at all times.\u00a0So\u00a0it was less of a personal experience for me.\u00a0Learning basic falconry and to have a connection with these animals was always with Helen\u00a0[in mind], and how significant they are and the significance of them in the memoir and therefore in the script, which was really helpful because it was such an out-of-the-ordinary thing to do and nothing that I ever could have ever prepared myself for.\u00a0<\/p>\n What was the set like with the hawks?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n That was one of the undertakings of actually making the film, to make the set entirely for them.\u00a0There was no one in the room apart from me and the camera operator. Philippa\u00a0[Lowthorpe], the director, had to be hidden away. All the crew had to hidden away, and all the handling that you see in the film is, obviously I did myself, because\u00a0it’s\u00a0me doing it.\u00a0<\/p>\n How do you feel about being connected to\u00a0<\/strong>The Crown<\/em><\/strong>?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n I suppose\u00a0I’m\u00a0used to it a little bit now.\u00a0It’s\u00a0been 10 years since I shot it. And so, I am really proud of being part of the show and really proud of what the show did and how long it\u00a0went on\u00a0for\u00a0and the regeneration of the character and all those things.\u00a0<\/p>\n Would you ever consider\u00a0doing\u00a0Broadway?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n Oh my God,\u00a0I’d\u00a0love to. I did a play in the U.K.,\u00a0Lungs<\/em>. We were supposed to\u00a0come,\u00a0we were going to Brooklyn\u00a0literally\u00a0in\u00a0March 2020\u00a0[when COVID hit].\u00a0So that was supposed to be my Broadway moment.
