Well, this stinks. It turns out Ashton Kutcher bathes on the regular after all, trend stories be damned<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cIt was the craziest thing of all time,\u201d Kutcher told People in an interview published Monday. \u201cWe made a comment at one point and people were like, \u2018Does he stink? Does he smell?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Kutcher explained to his \u201cThe Beauty\u201d co-stars Jeremy Pope and Anthony Ramos that he and his wife Mila Kunis<\/a> made a comment on a podcast \u201cso long ago\u201d about showering rarely and targeting those showers narrowly. <\/p>\n Now, \u201cso long ago\u201d was only back in 2021, on Dax Shepard\u2019s \u201cArmchair Expert,\u201d and the targets, the couple said at the time, were specific. Kutcher said he washed his \u201carmpits and … crotch daily and nothing else ever,\u201d while Kunis said there was \u201cno point\u201d to bathing children unless you could \u201csee the dirt on them.\u201d<\/p>\n But in hindsight, yes, that was most likely sarcastic. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018I shower, I go to the gym, I shower,\u2019\u201d Kutcher told People<\/a> this week. <\/p>\n Ramos backed up his buddy\u2019s story, saying with a laugh, \u201cI can confirm my boy showers.\u201d <\/p>\n In \u201cThe Beauty,\u201d Kutcher\u2019s character is apparently frequently shirtless and\/or wearing a Speedo, so he had to get back in shape before filming started. <\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s get clear about it, I\u2019ve been sitting in an office chair doing venture capital,\u201d the former \u201cTwo and a Half Men\u201d star told People. \u201cAnd so, I was like, \u2018Oh, my gosh. What am I gonna do?\u2019 So I got a trainer \u2014 his name is Robbie Egan \u2014 and Robbie comes to my house at 5 o\u2019clock in the morning before I start work and beats me up.\u201d<\/p>\n But enough about beatings. Back to the summer of 2021. <\/p>\n Kristen Bell, wife of podcaster Shepard, explained around the same time that they like to \u201cwait for the stink\u201d to shower their kids, for environmental reasons. The whole drought thing<\/a>, you know. <\/p>\n \u201cOnce you catch a whiff, that\u2019s biology\u2019s way of letting you know you need to clean it up,\u201d she said in an appearance with her hubby on \u201cThe View.\u201d \u201cThere\u2019s a red flag. Honestly, it\u2019s just bacteria; once you get bacteria, you gotta be like, \u2018Get in the tub or the shower.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Shepard added, \u201cWe bathed our children every single night \u2014 prior to bed is like the routine. And then somehow, they just started going to sleep on their own without the routine, and by George, we had to start saying, \u2018Hey, when\u2019s the last time you bathed them?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n There\u2019s apparently been no clarification since then from the Bell-Shepard household, but another supposed stinker who felt the need to redefine his role in that alleged 2021 trend was actor Jake Gyllenhaal. <\/p>\n Gyllenhaal said in an August 2021 Vanity Fair<\/a> interview that \u201c[m]ore and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times. I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere<\/a>. So I do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
