Founded in 1956 to showcase Ella Fitzgerald\u2019s talents, over the years the label has been a home for such legendary artists as Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Stan Getz, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone, Diana Krall, Frank Zappa and the Velvet Underground, as well as contemporary artists like Grammy favorites Jon Batiste and Samara Joy and edgier talents such as Arooj Aftab and Kurt Vile.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Norman Granz, Jazz and Justice | Verve 70\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gSNJmypadsU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tKicking off the anniversary releases will be a special previously unreleased 1960 live recording from Oscar Peterson, \u201cLive at Baker\u2019s Keyboard Lounge,\u201d out on April 17. On May 22 \u2014 almost 70 years to the day it was first released \u2014 will be a re-release of the classic \u201cElla Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook,\u201d the first Verve album ever released. There will be more live and new music releases from Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, and others, and the Verve Vault and Verve Record Club will also host an exciting slate of releases throughout the year, as will the audiophile Verve Acoustic Sound Series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFinally, throughout the month of March, Verve is partnering with Devon Turnbull (aka OJAS) as part of the HiFi Pursuit Listening Room Dream No. 3 at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, with an exclusive playback of Verve titles on Turnbull\u2019s large scale, handmade audio system, including curated events with key programmers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>+ Giant Records<\/strong>, the label relaunched in 2023 by Irving Azoff\u2019s media and entertainment company, will receive a strategic investment from <strong>Concord <\/strong>and, relatedly, will be partnering with Concord-owned<strong> Stem<\/strong> for global distribution, the companies announced Wednesday.
