On Wednesday\u2019s episode of his \u201cWeekly Show<\/a>\u201d podcast, Stewart said he disagreed with a listener who questioned whether the U.S. is totally \u201cfucked\u201d due to the \u201cdamage\u201d caused by the president.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cHard pass on that. No! What? No! I\u2019m not saying he\u2019s not going to do grievous damage but isn\u2019t that what you do after a devastating storm? You rebuild. You put in the work and you make some changes to the grid,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Stewart contended that a post-Trump fix-up may not occur in a week. He pointed to the Reconstruction era following the Civil War as an example why rebuilds don\u2019t \u201calways go the way you want it to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cAnything that he does can be redone and done better,\u201d insisted Stewart of Trump.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He continued, \u201cAnd the harder we work now, the faster this will be over.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Earlier in the episode, Stewart argued that Trump \u2014 whose administration has been absorbed in Greenland takeover talks<\/a> in recent weeks \u2014 is thinking only in terms of his legacy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe puts his name, like an 8-year-old, on everything that he owns. And he views through the prism of history, this idea that, \u2018I\u2019ll be the Louisiana Purchase guy, I\u2019ll be Seward\u2019s Folly, I\u2019ll get America Alaska. I\u2019ll get them Greenland,\u2019\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI almost think that he\u2019s thinking \u2014 it\u2019s not about that he doesn\u2019t think past his lifetime, it\u2019s that he doesn\u2019t think about what we\u2019re going to need to manage and hold on to this new world order that he\u2019s creating.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
