Donald Trump<\/a> on Tuesday was effortlessly mocked on \u201cThe Daily Show<\/a>\u201d over the Nobel Peace Prize, as the president spent years complaining<\/a> that he should have been awarded one \u2014 only to land a hand-me-down<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n It wasn\u2019t lost on the show that Fox News<\/a> routinely decries such laurels as \u201cparticipation trophies\u201d if the left is involved, prompting a montage of MAGA pundits with a superimposed photo of Trump holding his prize.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cDaily Show\u201d kicked things off with the ever-humble president himself declaring during a news conference<\/a> earlier this month, \u201cI can\u2019t think of anybody in history that should get the Nobel Prize more than me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The remaining clips focused on some of Trump\u2019s biggest on-air supporters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Among them was Fox News host Sean Hannity<\/a> accusing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries<\/a> (D-N.Y.) during a November broadcast of actively trying to keep the government closed amid the shutdown at the time<\/a> \u2014 to supposedly avoid giving Trump a \u201cwin.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIs that what it was about?\u201d Hannity asked<\/a>. \u201cEgo? Because you didn\u2019t win anything. \u2026 Hakeem Jeffries has yet to see the writing on the wall. He is proud of the Democrats<\/a>, this performative shutdown. He\u2019s ready to receive his participation trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n While the right frequently accuses Democrats of using empty symbolic gestures to score cultural or political points, Trump has arguably given himself some colossal participation trophies<\/a>, as well, and FIFA awarded him a peace prize<\/a> seemingly created just for him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cDaily Show\u201d cheekily scored its video to rather classy music for stark contrast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The montage eventually showed Fox News contributor Johnny Joey Jones arguing on \u201cThe Big Weekend Show\u201d<\/a> in December that \u201cparticipation trophies go against the spirit of masculinity\u201d \u2014 while defensively discussing key races Republicans lost<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The apparent fragility on display did not end there, however.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve gone too much to a participation trophy culture rather than a championship trophy culture,\u201d said former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy<\/a> during an appearance on \u201cThe Will Cain Show,\u201d before the montage cut to its third Fox News host.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cCredit fights always seem kind of petty,\u201d said Greg Gutfeld<\/a> during a segment on the Israel-Gaza conflict, as a photo overlaid by the \u201cDaily Show\u201d showed Trump gleefully posing with the Nobel Prize. \u201cHe can take all the credit he wants, but it\u2019s a participation trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump was practically campaigning for the Nobel Peace Prize last year by repeatedly championing his own purported triumph<\/a> in ending eight conflicts around the world, but he instead saw the honor go to Venezuelan opposition leader Mar\u00eda Corina Machado<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
