HASTINGS \u2014 The Hastings Parks and Recreation Department is recreating the fun of a long-standing, popular game show on Thursday, Jan. 29.<\/p>\n
The Right Price Night Out Edition! for ages 21 and older will be 6:30-8:30 p.m., Jan. 29 at the Hastings City Auditorium, 400 N. Hastings Ave.<\/p>\n
\u201c \u2018The Price is Right\u2019 as a television show engages its audience with fun, challenging games that are exciting for contestants as well as spectators,\u201d Recreation Superintendent Steve Farrens said. \u201cOur twist on this event keeps that structure while also focusing and expanding on the recreation aspect of the experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the second year, the Hastings Parks and Recreation Department has added additional elements inspired by a variety of shows, including its own take on a golfer\u2019s challenge. Additionally, the game will include original activities and games created by Farrens that pay homage to the television show.<\/p>\n
The big change between the show and the Parks and Recreation Department\u2019s event is the amount of potential contestants.<\/p>\n
On the show, four contestants begin on Bidder\u2019s Row and then one person is replaced each round as another is called up to the stage.<\/p>\n
In the Parks and Recreation Department\u2019s version, four new contestants are brought up to participate each round, and two of the four will appear in a stage game. Out of the 100+ spots, 32 people will have the opportunity to play. Additionally, there is a planned raffle following the event where even non-participants will have a chance to win.<\/p>\n
The Right Price provides an opportunity to highlight local businesses.<\/p>\n
The Adams County Visitors Bureau is the title sponsor. As part of the sponsorship, the ACVB has provided funds to purchase prizes from local businesses.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Hastings Parks and Rec has procured prizes and sponsorships from businesses such as Nelson Furniture, Pastime Lanes, and Allo.<\/p>\n
Prize donations and sponsorships are still needed and will be accepted until Jan. 23.<\/p>\n
