St. Johns County now has a memorial to local firefighters who have died in the line of duty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The St. Johns County Commission unanimously approved the commercial rezoning for Nothing Putt Fun & Games, an indoor\u2011outdoor mini\u2011golf and entertainment venue at 7250 and 7280 U.S. 1 N., almost 3.5 miles south of International Golf Parkway.<\/p>\n Spearheaded by applicant Barrett Tennant and designed by St. Augustine\u2019s Gulfstream Design Group, the proposal calls for a one\u2011story, approximately 16,000\u2011square\u2011foot indoor entertainment facility, an 18-hole mini golf course, arcade games, food trucks, TVs and a \u201c19th hole\u201d bar.<\/p>\n The outdoor miniature golf course will cover approximately 22,000\u2011square\u2011feet with landscaping filled with the Sunshine State\u2019s native vegetation and informational signage that explains the history of the local flora.<\/p>\n Tennant, who appeared at the County Commission meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 20, with his young son, said the entire family was excited to create a family\u2011run small business that brings \u201cjoy, activity and connection to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe appreciate the unanimous vote. It was a huge win for us, the county and Gulfstream,\u201d he said in a news release.<\/p>\n Matt Lahti, Gulfstream Design Group\u2019s president, added, \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to help bring a place to St. Johns County where people of all ages can laugh, play and make memories together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Tennant said he looked forward to working hand in hand with Gulfstream it finalizes the engineering design and permitting.\u00a0<\/p>\n Commissioner Christian Whitehurst described the project as ideal, something that residents have requested for years.<\/p>\n \u201cThe decision to approve was made easier by the fact that this parcel was already zoned for development,” he told the St. Augustine Record via email. “The indoor\u2011outdoor mini\u2011golf and entertainment venue will be something families will be enjoying for a long time.”<\/p>\n Commissioner Ann Taylor said that with the area\u2019s commercial zoning already in place, the single-story entertainment venue added value to the community without adding traffic congestion.<\/p>\n “The space gives families something to do locally, while requiring the developer to invest in trees and greenery to improve the area\u2019s footprint,\u201d she said via email.<\/p>\n
