A holdover from the sessions for their latest album \u201c<strong>May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way<\/strong>\u201c, the band\u2019s vocalist <strong>Jukka Pelkonen<\/strong> had the following to say about this track:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c\u2018<strong>Moongold<\/strong>\u2018 follows the overall style of the album. It\u2019s fast and packed with energy, and while the song is somewhat stripped down, its layers reveal themselves after a few spins. \u2018<strong>Moongold<\/strong>\u2019 is one of my favorites from these sessions, and I truly hope it will make its way into our setlist in the future \u2013 this song was absolutely made with live the performance in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>His bandmate, guitarist <strong>Markus Vanhala<\/strong>, added:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c\u2018<strong>Moongold<\/strong>\u2018 was originally released as an \u2018Eastern wonder,\u2019 meaning a Japan-exclusive around the time the album came out. However, we ultimately decided to leave it off the album itself, as it didn\u2019t quite fit the overall flow and we wanted the record to be a short, sharp burst of aggression. That said, the song stands very strong on its own as a melodic death metal anthem and is pure OG \u2013 perhaps a slightly more old-school version.
