Katherine Jenkins has revealed that\u00a0Tom Cruise<\/a>\u00a0mistook her for\u00a0a member of the Royal Family<\/a>\u00a0while performing at\u00a0the late Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee<\/a>\u00a0concert.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Welsh singer, 45, recalled the embarrassing moment the actor, was\u00a0‘body-slammed against a wall’ by\u00a0military personnel backstage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Katherine explained how her gigantic Cinderella-style gown left little room in the tight corridors, making for a very tight squeeze when she came off stage.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Taking to the stage in Sandringham Royal Parkland in June 2022, she wore a\u00a0bardot red gown with a puff design and form fitting waist.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Recalling the event, she said: ‘As I was getting ready to go out on stage, Tom was walking off, being escorted on either side by military personnel. Because I do so much with the military, they knew me.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘They both bowed their heads and said \u201cgood evening ma\u2019am\u201d at which point, because there wasn\u2019t space, one of them pushed Tom out of my way and almost body-slammed him against the wall.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Katherine added in an interview with The Telegraph<\/a>:\u00a0‘After the performance, when we did meet, he gave me a very strange handshake\/nod\/bow thing. Maybe he\u2019d got confused and thought I was a royal?’\u00a0<\/p>\n

The mezzo-soprano performed hits from throughout her career at the Platinum Jubilee<\/a>\u00a0concert\u00a0with a symphony orchestra and special guest the Military Wives Choirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before taking to the stage, Katherine admitted she was nervous, saying: ‘Singing for her means you really need to bring out your best performance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

‘<\/span>It doesn\u2019t matter how many times I perform for her or meet her, whether it’s in front of thousands or just at a small dinner, I will never be blas\u00e9 about it.\u00a0<\/span>It\u2019s a huge honour and lovely to be asked.’<\/span><\/p>\n

The musician took to her Instagram page before the event, writing: ‘What a huge honour to sing here at Sandringham on this historic weekend.<\/p>\n

‘Tonight was the stuff of dreams – an incredible audience all united in love & celebration for Her Majesty! I\u00a0will remember this as long as I live. Thank you for having me.’<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Katherine recently joined classical music radio station Magic Classical for a special tribute to legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti, marking what would have been his 90th birthday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Partnering with Decca Classics, the station celebrated the release of Novanta \u2013 a 74-track album featuring iconic duets and previously unreleased material from the opera great.<\/p>\n

The documentary saw one of the UK’s most celebrated mezzo-sopranos, and a devoted Pavarotti fan, explore the life and legacy of one of the world’s most beloved tenors.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking to Bauer Media, Katherine said: ‘It is such a joy to present this documentary exploring the remarkable journey of Luciano Pavarotti from his humble beginnings, through his years of dedication, to becoming the legendary superstar we all know and love.<\/p>\n

She continued: ‘For me, Pavarotti was not just an extraordinary tenor, but a lifelong inspiration whose artistry shaped my own career and deepened my passion for music.<\/p>\n

‘I have always been in awe of his gift to touch hearts across the world, which is why sharing his story feels profoundly special, as his influence continues to remind us of the true power of song.’\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
