Geddy Lee has suggested that new music from Rush<\/a> could be on the cards following their reunion tour.<\/p>\n

This June, Rush will return to the stage for the first time since the conclusion of their farewell tour in 2015, which was supposed to be their last goodbye.<\/p>\n

Following the death of drummer Neil Peart in 2020, it seemed improbable that Rush, even with a new drummer, would ever play live again. However, in October, they announced a North American arena tour to celebrate the band\u2019s legacy, which they later had to extend on multiple occasions due to phenomenal demand.<\/p>\n

Now, in a new interview with Music Radar<\/em> (via Blabbermouth<\/a><\/em>), Lee revealed, \u201cMy intent, before we got into this celebration of Rush\u2019s history, was to put some music together.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the music that he planned on making wasn\u2019t for Rush with Lee explaining, \u201cNow, I assumed I would be doing that on my own, not with Alex, but when we started jamming, I started seeing the possibility of doing something with Alex \u2014 but all of that went on hold now because there\u2019s too much work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, optimistically added, \u201cThere\u2019s too much work to do for this tour to even think about that. But if we manage to survive the tour,<\/a> and go back to Canada and have a rest, who knows what\u2019ll happen, but I suspect some music will eventually come out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another driving force that is making the prospect of recording new Rush music tantalising for Lee is their new drummer, Anika Nilles<\/a>, who previously played with The Jeff Beck Group before the late guitarist\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Lee noted, \u201cIt would be fun to see what [Nilles] can do in a creative situation. Like, that would be fun. But it\u2019s all speculation until it isn\u2019t, so\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

After being announced as the new Rush drummer, Nilles admitted to finding the situation \u201cquite overwhelming\u201d, before thanking \u201cGeddy and Alex for their trust and for welcoming me on this incredible new journey with Rush\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rush will hit the road in June, which will run through until December and rules out the prospect of hearing anything new from the prog-rock icons in 2026.<\/p>\n
