CLAREMORE \u2013\u00a0On Feb. 12, at 6 p.m., join podcast hosts, Trait Thompson and Dr. Bob Blackburn, at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum for a special live recording of\u00a0A Very OK Podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n The topic for this on-the-road episode is Oklahoma\u2019s favorite son, Will Rogers. They will be discussing his life growing up in the Cherokee Nation, as well as his rise to stardom through vaudeville and motion pictures, his family life, and more. The episode will also feature the history of Will\u2019s connection to Route 66 \u2013 the Will Rogers Highway. Special guests for this episode are\u00a0Tad Jones, director of the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, and\u00a0Jennifer Rogers, Will\u2019s great-granddaughter.<\/p>\n Admission to this event is free, and refreshments will be generously provided by the Will Rogers Memorial Foundation.<\/p>\n Will Rogers is considered by many to be \u201cOklahoma\u2019s Favorite Son.\u201d He was also a Cherokee Nation citizen born on Nov. 4, 1879, in the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, near Oologah.<\/p>\n As an entertainer and humorist, the \u201cCherokee Kid\u201d traveled around the world three times, made 71 films (50 silent films and 21 \u201ctalkies\u201d) and wrote more than 4,000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns. By the mid-1930s, the American people adored Rogers. He was the leading political columnist of his time and was the highest paid Hollywood film star.<\/p>\n Today, the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, located at\u00a01720 West Will Rogers Boulevard\u00a0in Claremore,\u00a0houses the world\u2019s largest collection of Will Rogers memorabilia and his entire collection of writings.<\/p>\n
