Spanish Royals at FITUR.<\/strong> President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of the Spanish Royal Family\u2019s participation at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), where they held talks with representatives from Mexican Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n She said the Kings of Spain engaged with Mexican states and spoke directly with Indigenous members, calling the dialogue meaningful for strengthening bilateral ties. \u201cThe Kings of Spain approached Mexico\u2019s states at FITUR and spoke with members of Indigenous communities. These conversations matter. I would invite them to visit Mexico. It would be an important symbolic step,\u201d Sheinbaum said.<\/p>\n The participation comes amid past diplomatic tensions between Mexico and the Spanish royal family, after former President L\u00f3pez Obrador asked Spain to apologize for the colonial period, a request the Spanish royals declined.<\/p>\n New Investment for Veracruz. <\/strong>President Sheinbaum announced infrastructure and reconstruction projects for Veracruz with an investment of nearly MX$20 billion (US$1.15 billion) between 2026 and 2027. The funds will go toward highways, road rehabilitation, drinking water systems, river dredging and rechanneling, and housing for families affected by the 2025 rains. \u201cNearly MX$20 billion will be invested in Veracruz for highways, water, river dredging, rechanneling, and housing for people affected by last year\u2019s floods,\u201d Sheinbaum said.<\/p>\n Infrastructure Projects in Veracruz to Generate Over 33,000 Jobs.<\/strong> Infrastructure, Communications and Transport Minister Jes\u00fas Esteva outlined reconstruction and modernization works in Veracruz totaling MX$11.1 billion and generating more than 33,000 jobs. He said MX$4.3 billion is being invested due to storm damage, including 50 actions on 426km of federal roads and 35 actions on 287km of state roads, covering drainage, capacity expansion, slope stabilization, retaining walls, and 18 bridges.<\/p>\n Veracruz Strengthens Economic and Tourism Development. <\/strong>Veracruz Governor Roc\u00edo Nahle highlighted progress in economic development, tourism, and support for agriculture, livestock, and fishing sectors. \u201cWe are paying down Veracruz\u2019s debt and moving in the right direction,\u201d Nahle said, adding that under Plan M\u00e9xico, a project portfolio of more than US$4 billion has been secured for infrastructure and regional development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
