\n\tSean Paul<\/a>\u2018s list of achievements just got longer. \u201cCheap Thrills,\u201d his smash 2016 collaboration with Sia<\/a>, was certified 11 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America on Thursday, marking more than 11 million units \u2014 his first song to achieve the diamond-plus feat.<\/p>\n \n\tThe voice behind iconic dancehall crossover hits like \u201cTemperature,\u201d \u201cGet Busy\u201d and \u201cGimme the Light,\u201d Sean Paul exploded onto the Billboard<\/em> charts in 2000, kicking off more than two decades of cross-genre success. 2002\u2019s Dutty Rock<\/em> earned him the Grammy for best reggae album and became his first of two top 10 projects on the Billboard 200<\/a>. Over on the Billboard Hot 100<\/a>, Paul has notched four No. 1 singles from 10 top 10 hits, including the four-week chart-topper \u201cCheap Thrills.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tSia initially released \u201cTrills\u201d on her 2015 This Is Acting<\/em> LP, and the Kingston-bred artist hopped on a remix at the top of 2016. Tapping into the then-dominant \u201ctropical pop\u201d sound, Paul\u2019s remix helped the song conquer top 40, topping the all-genre Radio Songs chart for eight weeks \u2014 his longest stay atop the ranking since his featured turn on Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>\u2018s 2003 smash \u201cBaby Boy\u201d (nine weeks). \u201cCheap Thrills\u201d eventually finished at No. 66 on the 2010s Decade-End Billboard Hot 100 and earned both artists their first (and only) Grammy nods in the best pop\/duo group performance category.<\/p>\n \n\tNotably, \u201cThrills,\u201d which marked Paul\u2019s first Hot 100 chart-topper in more than a decade, is Sia\u2019s second single to earn a diamond certification from the RIAA<\/a>. In 2024, \u201cChandelier\u201d reached diamond status exactly a decade post-release, just like \u201cTrills.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tOf course, Sean Paul has kept busy over the past decade, releasing two consecutive Grammy-nominated albums \u2014 2021\u2019s Live n Livin<\/em> and 2022\u2019s Scorcha<\/em> \u2014 that both hit the top 10 of Reggae Albums at Nos. 9 and 6, respectively. Last month, he co-headlined the Jamaica Strong benefit concert<\/a> for Hurricane Melissa relief, which graced New York\u2019s UBS Arena<\/a> on Dec. 12. The day of the fundraiser, he released an uplifting anthem titled \u201cFaith We A Keep.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tConsidering the uptick in 2016 nostalgia across social media, it\u2019s only fitting that one of that year\u2019s biggest hits is honored for its success.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n \t
