A charity linked to Prince Harry<\/a> has broken its silence after US President Donald Trump\u2019s comments about NATO<\/a>. The President of the United States caused a sensation this week after he suggested in an interview with Fox News that NATO allied troops “stayed a little off the front lines” in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He also claimed the US had “never needed” its NATO partners, despite being the only member state to have ever invoked the alliance’s “all for one, and one for all” clause, in the wake of 9\/11. Prince Harry<\/a> issued a powerful statement on Friday<\/a>, saying that the sacrifices of British soldiers “deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Trump\u2019s remarks have drawn widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum in the UK, with critics pointing to both the number of UK deaths in Afghanistan and highlighting Mr Trump’s avoidance of military service in Vietnam.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

One of those condemning the comments was Scotty\u2019s Little Soldiers, of which Prince Harry is Global Ambassador<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The charity\u2019s founder and Army widow, Nikki Scott, issued an emotional video message, which was shared on the charity\u2019s social media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Scotty\u2019s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved military children and young people.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Ms Scott said in her message that Mr Trump\u2019s comments have been \u201cdeeply upsetting for many.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She said: \u201cAt Scotty\u2019s, we want to reassure you that those who matter absolutely understand the sacrifices and the difference made by our armed forces supporting the Americans in the conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMy husband Corporal Lee Scott was killed in Afghanistan while serving with the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
