When Olivia Wilde<\/a> started filming The Invite<\/a>, her latest directorial effort that she also stars in, she didn\u2019t know exactly how it would end. And this was by design.<\/p>\n

Wilde<\/a> wanted to try what she describes as an \u201cexperiment\u201d where she would spend several weeks in the lead-up to the film\u2019s 23-day shoot workshopping the story with her actors and writers Rashida Jones<\/a> and Will McCormack<\/a>. After this, she planned to shoot the film sequentially, completely in order, to allow for further conversation and changes to be made as the cast worked their way through the story.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019ve accepted this kind of paradigm of the way movies have to happen,\u201d Wilde tells The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in her first interview about the feature ahead of its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. \u201cThey have to shoot them out of order. You can\u2019t have a rehearsal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
