PARK CITY, Utah (AP) \u2014 The comedy streak<\/a> at the Sundance Film Festival<\/a> continued Saturday with the world premieres of the art world satire \u201cThe Gallerist,\u201d with Natalie Portman, and Oliva Wilde\u2019s \u201cThe Invite,\u201d a sharp look a crumbling marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Invite,\u201d which debuted at the Eccles Theater, marks Wilde\u2019s third time behind the camera and first since \u201cDon\u2019t Worry Darling.\u201d<\/a> It received an enthusiastic standing ovation.<\/p>\n

Will McCormack and Rashida Jones wrote the script for \u201cThe Invite,\u201d in which a couple on the edge (Wilde and Seth Rogen) have their upstairs neighbors (Pen\u00e9lope Cruz and Edward Norton) over for dinner. The evening starts with awkward small talk and becomes a raw and revealing encounter that’s funny and devastating at times.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral of the greatest moments of this movie were written by the cast,\u201d Wilde said after the premiere. \u201cWe shot in order, which was incredible. \u2026 It was such a luxury.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was also quite a bit of improv, Wilde and Rogen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there’s a seven-hour movie that you would have liked,” Wilde said.<\/p>\n

Wilde has had a busy Sundance so far. On Friday night she helped debut the new Gregg Araki movie \u201cI Want Your Sex,\u201d in which she plays an eccentric artist and sexual provocateur.<\/p>\n

Following \u201cThe Invite\u201d was Cathy Yan\u2019s \u201cThe Gallerist,\u201d starring Portman as gallerist Polina Polinski attempting to make a name for herself at Art Basel in Miami, with the help of her assistant (Jenna Ortega), who gets involved in a plot to sell a dead body.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was such a great original concept that felt really juicy and perfect,\u201d Yan said after the movie, with Portman, Ortega and Charli xcx by her side.<\/p>\n

When an audience member asked if Portman took the role for personal reasons, she quipped, \u201cI’ve never tried to sell a dead body before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zach Galifianakis plays an influencer and Da\u2019Vine Joy Randolph is an emerging artist in the starry cast, which also includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sterling K. Brown and Daniel Br\u00fchl.<\/p>\n

The Eccles also hosted the premiere of \u201cWicker,\u201d starring Olivia Colman as a sardonic fisherwoman who commissions a basket weaver to maker her a husband, played by Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd, who co-stars in the Charli xcx movie \u201cThe Moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of the films are seeking distribution at the Sundance Film Festival, which runs through Feb. 1.<\/p>\n\n
