Knock Knock Children\u2019s Museum\u2019s I Have A Dream Day<\/h3>\n

Knock Knock Children\u2019s Museum in Baton Rouge celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at its annual “I Have a Dream Day” on Jan. 19. With special Monday hours, the museum welcomed more than 700 guests from across the community through special activities.<\/p>\n

Students from East Baton Rouge\u2019s special Talented Theater Department recited a portion of King\u2019s famous \u201cI Have a Dream\u201d speech, instructed by talented theater director Fabiola Reno, representing Brownfields Elementary, Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts and McKinley Elementary schools.<\/p>\n

Children completed an \u201cI Have A Dream\u201d reflection exercise and explored personal character traits like courage, perseverance and compassion. Children also learned about community service by assembling toiletry kits, which Knock Knock staff will donate to those in need. Guests also \u201cmarched\u201d through the museum to learn about King\u2019s focus on peace and non-violence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Cin\u00e9ma Fran\u00e7ais on LPB<\/h3>\n

Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s ongoing showcase of French heritage and language, Cin\u00e9ma Fran\u00e7ais, is now showing at 10 p.m. Sunday nights. The program is hosted by Dr. William Arceneaux, the founder of La Fondation Louisiane and director of The Foundation for Excellence in Louisiana Public Broadcasting.     100 Strong Baton Rouge chooses nominees for first meeting of 2026<\/h3>\n

    100 Strong Baton Rouge,\u00a0founded by Saundra Lane, Holly Andrews and Amy Andrews, is kicking off the new year at 6 p.m. Jan. 27 at Oak Lodge Reception and Event Center, 2905 Westfork Drive, Baton Rouge. Three local nonprofits will present their causes to be the recipient of the 100 Strong donation: the Capital Area Autism Network, Books for Boots and Metanoia Manor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    The Capital Area Autism Network\u00a0is an organization that finds solutions to address the needs of the autistic and neurodivergent community in the Capital area by hosting networking and educational events, collaborations and summits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Books for Booths is a volunteer nonprofit organization that provides new and gently used books, movies, music CDs, puzzles, craft items and more to members of the military, including injured recruits in basic training to veterans and children of military families.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
