Some celebrities have been candid about their sobriety struggles while experiencing ups and downs in the public eye.<\/p>\n

Natasha Lyonne<\/strong><\/a>, for one, revealed in a January 2026 social media post that after 10 years of sobriety<\/a>, she relapsed.<\/p>\n

\u201cTook my relapse public, more to come,\u201d she wrote at the time.<\/p>\n

Lyonne quit drinking in 2006 after seeing treatment at an inpatient rehab facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s weird to talk about. I was definitely as good as dead, you know? A lot of people don\u2019t come back,\u201d she explained to Entertainment Weekly<\/em> in 2012. \u201cThat makes me feel wary, and self-conscious. I wouldn\u2019t want to feel prideful about it. People really rallied around me and pulled me up by my f***ing bootstraps.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gonna do it for baby Bambo,\u201d Lyonne wrote via X in January 2026, referring to the then-upcoming boxing movie she\u2019s writing and directing. \u201cStay [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Years later, Lyonne noted that she has \u201cno problem\u201d speaking about her past struggles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth is, at the back of that addiction are feelings that so many of us have, that don\u2019t go away. Isn\u2019t everyone entitled to a moment of existential breakdown in a lifetime?\u201d she told The Guardian<\/em> in 2017. \u201cAdulthood is making peace with being kind to oneself when a response to life that\u2019s so much more organic and immediate would be to self-destruct.\u201d<\/p>\n

After her initial January 2026 social media post revealing her relapse, Lyonne followed up with a few other messages.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecovery is a lifelong process. Anyone out there struggling, remember you\u2019re not alone,\u201d Lyonne wrote. \u201cIf no one told ya today, I love you. No matter how far down the scales we have gone, we will see how our experience may help another. Keep going, kiddos. Don\u2019t quit before the miracle. Wallpaper your mind with love. Rest is all noise and baloney.\u201d<\/p>\n

AJ McLean<\/h2>\n

The Backstreet Boys member discussed his sobriety journey<\/a> in July 2025 after several relapses throughout his career.<\/p>\n

McLean told People<\/em> that he\u2019s in \u201cthe best head space I\u2019ve ever been in my life,\u201d at the time. \u201cI\u2019m sticking this one out all the way. It\u2019s a daily thing. But I have finally done what has been suggested amongst the sober community, and my life has flipped in a positive way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jax Taylor<\/h2>\n

Taylor went to rehab a second time in 2024, following a brief relapse<\/a> after his first inpatient stay.<\/p>\n

Kelly Osbourne<\/h2>\n

In April 2021, Osbourne revealed that she relapsed after four years of sobriety.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a little hard for me to talk about, but I\u2019ve always promised you that I will always be honest with you about where I\u2019m at and what\u2019s going on in my road to recovery,\u201d she wrote on social media at the time. \u201cI relapsed. Not proud of it. But I am back on track.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast host was sober for 16 years<\/a> before he briefly relapsed in 2020 on Vicodin.<\/p>\n

Jason Wahler<\/h2>\n

The Hills alum has been candid about his relapse<\/a> a few times during his sobriety journey. In February 2020, the reality star said he had \u201canother slip,\u201d explaining that body image issues are at the root of his relapses.<\/p>\n

Demi Lovato<\/h2>\n

The former Disney Channel star has discussed her addiction journey at length<\/a>. Lovato experienced a public relapse in 2018 after six years of sobriety, which led to an eventual overdose.<\/p>\n

During a 2020 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show<\/em><\/a>, the singer said that she \u201casked for help\u201d when her eating disorder relapsed, which led to her other struggles returning.<\/p>\n
