{"id":2252936,"date":"2026-01-27T15:53:03","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T15:53:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2252936"},"modified":"2026-01-27T15:53:03","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T15:53:03","slug":"baxter-boys-start-new-win-streak-against-royals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/baxter-boys-start-new-win-streak-against-royals\/","title":{"rendered":"Baxter boys start new win streak against Royals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-content\">\n<p>COLO \u2014 A fast start was just enough for the Baxter boys basketball team against Colo-NESCO on Jan. 13.<\/p>\n<p>The Bolts led by eight after one quarter but held on to down the rival Royals 45-43 during Iowa Star Conference South Division play.<\/p>\n<p>Colo-NESCO pulled within two at halftime, and both teams scored 13 points in the third and 11 in the fourth.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image image-style-align-right image_resized\" style=\"width:44.89%;\"><figcaption>Dakota Parker<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Bolts registered their ninth straight win over the Royals after turning the ball over only eight times.<\/p>\n<p>Eli Dee finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the Bolts.<\/p>\n<p>Dakota Parker added nine points and five rebounds, Hayden Burdess posted six points and four rebounds and Cael Wishman scored six points off the bench.<\/p>\n<p>Stadan Vansice contributed four rebounds, seven assists and two steals, Holden Dee put in three points off the bench and Maddux Tuhn grabbed two boards.<\/p>\n<p>The Bolts (9-4, 7-0 in the conference) won the game despite shooting only 38.6 percent from the floor. They were 7-of-19 from 3-point range and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image image-style-align-right image_resized\" style=\"width:45.15%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1200\/830;\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.newtondailynews.com\/data\/wysiwig\/2026\/01\/27\/hayden-burdess-web.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"830\"\/><figcaption>Hayden Burdess<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Brady Handsaker led the Royals (6-4, 3-3) with 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.<\/p>\n<p>Blake Obrecht added seven points and 11 rebounds and Jack Angell scored a team-high 14 points.<\/p>\n<p>The Royals shot 41.5 percent from the floor, made 3-of-15 from 3 and connected on 6-of-12 from the line. They committed 17 turnovers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baxter 93, Meskwaki Settlement School 26\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT \u2014 Ten players scored at least four points, the Bolts swiped 21 steals and Baxter routed Meskwaki Settlement School on the road on Jan. 16.<\/p>\n<p>The Bolts led the Iowa Star Conference South Division game 22-10 after one and held the Warriors to single digits in each of the final three quarters.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image image-style-align-right image_resized\" style=\"width:45.09%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1200\/863;\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.newtondailynews.com\/data\/wysiwig\/2026\/01\/27\/stadan-vansice-web.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"863\"\/><figcaption>Stadan Vansice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Baxter, which posted its ninth straight win over Meskwaki Settlement, shot 61 percent from the floor and made 16-of-24 from the foul line.<\/p>\n<p>Eli Dee led the Bolts with 29 points, three rebounds, three assists and four steals. He was 9-of-14 from the floor and 9-of-9 from the foul line.<\/p>\n<p>Burdess totaled 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals and Miles McCord put in a career- best nine points and was 4-of-6 from the floor off the bench. Burdess made 5-of-7 from the field.<\/p>\n<p>Vansice chipped in three rebounds, four assists and two steals, Tuhn contributed four points, two rebounds and two assists and Parker put in seven points.<\/p>\n<p>The Bolts\u2019 bench accounted for more than 20 points. Wishman finished with four points, three rebounds and two steals, Alec Robinson registered four points, two rebounds and two steals, Grayson Scroggins posted three rebounds, two assists and two steals and Brecken Maxwell tallied three rebounds and four assists.<\/p>\n<p>Holden Dee had seven points and two rebounds, Colten Damman pitched in six points and three steals and Blake Maxwell scored six points and grabbed two rebounds.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image image-style-align-right image_resized\" style=\"width:45.07%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1200\/732;\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.newtondailynews.com\/data\/wysiwig\/2026\/01\/27\/cael-wishman-web.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"732\"\/><figcaption>Cael Wishman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Bolts made 5-of-13 from 3. They outscored the Warriors (1-10, 1-7) 29-9 in the second, 19-5 in the third and 23-2 in the fourth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baxter 70, Earlham 62<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>EARLHAM \u2014 The Bolts led by double-digits after one and that was enough to hold off host Earlham during a 70-62 victory on Jan. 15.<\/p>\n<p>Baxter led 23-12 after eight minutes in the non-conference game and got into the win column despite being outscored by three the rest of the way.<\/p>\n<p>Eli Dee led the Bolts with a double-double. He finished with 36 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. He was 13-of-20 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the foul line.<\/p>\n<p>Parker had 12 points, two rebounds and three steals, Burdess added nine points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals and Tuhn posted seven points, four rebounds and a career-best eight assists.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image image-style-align-right image_resized\" style=\"width:45.22%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1200\/741;\" src=\"https:\/\/static2.newtondailynews.com\/data\/wysiwig\/2026\/01\/27\/maddox-tuhn-web.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"741\"\/><figcaption>Maddux Tuhn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Parker shot 4-of-10 from 3. Vansice was 4-of-6 from the foul line.<\/p>\n<p>The Bolts shot 46.2 percent from the floor, made 8-of-20 from 3 and connected on 14of-17 from the foul line. They turned the ball over 14 times.<\/p>\n<p>Earlham (9-5) was led by Griffin Messer\u2019s 27 points and five rebounds. He was 6-of-17 from 3 and scored 11 points above his season average.<\/p>\n<p>Brady Reynolds pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out five assists and the Cardinals made 11-of-34 from 3.<\/p>\n<p>Earlham shot 37 percent from the floor, turned the ball over 11 times and made 5-of-11 from the foul line. It was the Cardinals\u2019 fourth straight loss.<\/p>\n<p>Eli Dee\u2019s 409 points leads all of Iowa.
