PARK CITY, Utah \u2014 Protesters gathered Monday on Park City\u2019s Main Street during the Sundance Film Festival to denounce U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the fatal shooting of a Minnesota man by a federal border agent, an incident that has sparked demonstrations and condemnation nationwide.<\/p>\n
Demonstrators held signs and chanted \u201cshoot films, not people\u201d and \u201cICE out\u201d in opposition to ICE\u2019s enforcement practices. Organizers said the gathering was meant to show solidarity with Minnesota following the killing of Alex Jeffery Pretti, 37, who was shot Saturday in Minneapolis by a U.S. Border Patrol agent.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson with Visibility Brigade, one of the groups involved, said protesters chose to demonstrate during Sundance to amplify their message amid the festival\u2019s international spotlight.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur message today is that there is a place for law enforcement and immigration enforcement in the United States,\u201d the protester said. \u201cBut it does not involve executing American citizens on the street, knocking on people\u2019s homes without a warrant, or treating other human beings \u2014 documented or not \u2014 with violence.\u201d<\/p>\n
Caroline Gleich, a Park City resident and U.S Senate nominee, was also in attendance.<\/p>\n
The protest unfolded as celebrities attending Sundance also spoke publicly about the killing and broader concerns surrounding ICE.<\/p>\n
Actor Natalie Portman was photographed wearing a pin reading \u201cICE OUT\u201d at the premiere of The Gallerist and later described the moment as \u201chorrific,\u201d saying the federal government is attacking civilians. \u201cIt\u2019s impossible to ignore what ICE is doing to our country,\u201d she told ABC4<\/a>.<\/p>\n Actor Elijah Wood told Deadline that the Minnesota shooting was \u201cawful,\u201d adding, \u201cWe\u2019re not divided here; we\u2019re coming together.\u201d<\/p>\n Actor and director Olivia Wilde also condemned the killing, telling the AP she was appalled and sickened, calling ICE an \u201cunbelievably criminal organization.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m horrified by this string of murders that we are somehow legitimizing and normalizing,\u201d Wilde said.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/townlift.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/JennaNatalieCharli-1024x683.jpg\")
