Bella Hadid<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s split from Adan Banuelos<\/strong> came as a surprise after more than two years of dating \u2014 but what ultimately led to the decision?<\/p>\n

News broke on Monday, January 26, that Hadid, 29, and Banuelos, 36, called it quits, with a source exclusively telling Us Weekly<\/em> that the breakup happened \u201ca few weeks ago.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was after the holidays and is still very recent and fresh,\u201d the insider noted about how Hadid \u201cthrew herself back into work and is very focused\u201d on her career right now. \u201cShe is feeling a little bit better and her health has improved [amid her Lyme disease complications].\u201d<\/p>\n

The source pointed to Hadid being booked and busy as the reason why her connection with Banuelos<\/a> went \u201cdownhill,\u201d adding, \u201c[It started] when she got busier with work promoting her new series, taking on more campaigns and events with Orebella.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hadid and Banuelos \u201cboth had busy schedules and were long distance\u201d for a while, which \u201cwasn\u2019t working out.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was a lot that was putting strain on the relationship,\u201d the insider explained to Us<\/em>. \u201cAdan really wanted her to be in Texas with him, but Bella was ready to spread her wings again and take on more work in Los Angeles and New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Hadid loved life in Texas, she \u201cexpressed interest in going back to New York for a period of time.\u201d The model recently went away on a girls\u2019 trip to the Virgin Islands as a way to decompress after the major life change.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the perfect escape for her. She\u2019s been really heartbroken and thought Adan was The One,\u201d the insider continued. \u201cHer girlfriends and her family have been lifting her up in the last few weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hadid and Banuelos were initially linked in late 2023 but didn\u2019t go public until several months later. While the pair largely remained tight-lipped about their romance, Banuelos made a rare comment about<\/a> how Hadid moved into his fifth wheel trailer when they first started dating.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe did do the fifth wheel, happily,\u201d he said on the \u201cAlong For the Ride\u201d podcast in 2024. \u201cIt was badass.
