The Duke of Kent paid poignant tribute to the victims of the
\nHolocaust on Tuesday, attending a concert at the Imperial War
\nMuseum London in honour of the Holocaust survivors and those who
\ndid not survive the atrocity.<\/p>\n

In front of a crowd that included the 90-year-old duke, the
\nEnglish Chamber Orchestra performed a selection of music that
\nincluded Beethoven (Movement 6 from String Quartet Op. 131, plus
\nfirst chord of Movement 7), Rosy Wertheim (Lancelot, Movement I \u2013
\nAndante \u2014 Main section and Lancelot Movement I \u2013 Coda), Chopin
\n(Etude Op. 10 No. 3 \u2013 Tristesse), Franz Schubert (Marche Militaire
\nNo. 1), Robert Schumann (Tr\u00e4umerei), Hans Neumeyer (String Trio
\nMovement 2), and Herbert Zipper (Dachau Lied).<\/p>\n

\nserves as President of the Board of Trustees of the Imperial War
\nMuseum, which houses The Holocaust Galleries<\/a> at its London
\nsite. Over 2,000 photographs, books, letters and other personal
\nobjects are on display at the museum to ensure that the stories of
\nsome of the 6 million people who were murdered in the Holocaust are
\nnever forgotten.<\/h5>\n

Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a reception for
\nHolocaust survivors and their families at Buckingham Palace. The
\nspecial theme of this year\u2019s Holocaust Memorial Day was \u2018Bridging
\nGenerations\u2019 and encouraged young people to take to heart the
\nhistory of what happened and to ensure that it is never forgotten
\nand does not happen again.<\/p>\n

During the reception, those gathered viewed seven portraits of
\nHolocaust survivors that had been
\ncommissioned by King Charles when he was still the Prince of
\nWales<\/a>. The seven portraits featured Lily Ebert, Anita
\nLasker-Wallfisch, Helen Aronson, Arek Hersh, Zigi Shipper, Manfred
\nGoldberg, and Rachel Levy, all of whom were chosen for their work
\nin Holocaust education and awareness. The portraits are on display
\nin Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n

\nremembrance.<\/p>\n
