Emma Heming Willis<\/a> has revealed that her husband, Bruce Willis<\/a>, \u201cnever connected the dots\u201d when it came to his frontotemporal dementia (FTD) diagnosis.<\/a><\/p>\n Appearing on the latest episode of Cameron Oaks Rogers\u2019 Conversations With Cam<\/em><\/a> podcast, Emma said that the Die Hard<\/em><\/a> actor \u201cnever tapped in\u201d and so he doesn\u2019t know he\u2019s living with the disease.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that\u2019s like the blessing and the curse of this, is that he never connected the dots that he had this disease, and I\u2019m really happy about that,\u201d Emma stated, per People<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m really happy that he doesn\u2019t know about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Bruce\u2019s family first announced his aphasia diagnosis in 2022 before revealing the FTD diagnosis almost a year later. Since then, Emma has become an advocate for discussing the disease, offering help and guidance to others in similar situations.<\/p>\n Emma told Rogers that, as part of the disease, Bruce suffers from anosognosia. According to the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>, anosognosia is \u201ca condition where your brain can\u2019t recognize one or more other health conditions you have\u201d and is common in those with \u201cmental health conditions like schizophrenia and Alzheimer\u2019s disease.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s where your brain can\u2019t identify what is happening to it,\u201d Emma explained, adding that those with anosognosia \u201cthink this is their normal.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cPeople think this might be denial, like they don\u2019t want to go to the doctor because they\u2019re like, \u2018I\u2019m fine, I\u2019m fine,\u2019 actually, this is the anosognosia\u00a0that comes into play. It\u2019s not denial. It\u2019s just that their brain is changing. This is a part of the disease.\u201d<\/p>\n Emma and Bruce tied the knot in 2009 and went on to welcome two children, daughters Mabel Ray Willis (13) and Evelyn Penn Willis (11). Bruce also shares three adult daughters with his ex-wife, Demi Moore<\/a>: Rumer Willis<\/a> (37), Scout Willis<\/a> (34), and Tallulah Willis<\/a> (31).<\/p>\n As a family, Emma said they\u2019ve \u201cprogressed and adapted along with [Bruce],\u201d who she said is \u201cstill very much present in his body.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe has a way of connecting with me, our children that might not be the same as you would connect with your loved one, but it\u2019s still very beautiful,\u201d she stated. \u201cIt\u2019s still very meaningful. It\u2019s just\u2026 it\u2019s just different. You just learn how to adapt.\u201d<\/p>\n
