Markham St. at Broadway. The Youth Orchestra \u2014 advanced players in grades 8-12 \u2014 will sit \u201cside-by-side\u201d with members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Music Director Geoffrey Robson, performing Emmanuel Chabrier\u2019s \u201cEspa\u00f1a\u201d and Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky\u2019s Fantasy Overture \u201cRomeo and Juliet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Irvin and Kiril Laskarov will conduct the Prelude Orchestra \u2014 string students in grades 4-8 \u2014 in \u201cConcertino\u201d by Elliot Del Borgo; \u201cOcean Storm\u201d by Antonio Vivaldi; \u201cSoldier\u2019s March\u201d by Robert Schumann; and \u201cBritish Grenadiers\u201d by John Caponegro.<\/p>\n<p>And Tom McDonald will conduct the Academy Orchestra \u2014 intermediate-level string, wind, brass and percussion students in grades 7-12 \u2014 in \u201cCross Creek\u201d by Carl Strommen; the \u201cAllegretto\u201d from the Symphony No. 7 by Ludwig van Beethoven; and the \u201cFlying Theme\u201d from John Williams\u2019 score for the movie \u201cE.T.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>General admission tickets are $10, free for children 18 and younger with an adult ticket. That concert is \u201cdesigned to welcome audiences of all ages and abilities,\u201d according to a news release.<\/p>\n<p>In both performances, Valery Saul, the orchestra\u2019s associate conductor, leads 11 ASO musicians, with principal cellist David Gerstein playing \u201cThe \u201cSwan\u201d with pianists Carl Anthony and Hee-Kyung Juhn. Ryan D. Davis will narrate from a text consisting of poems by Ogden Nash.<\/p>\n<p>The Music Center performance is presented as a \u201csensory-friendly concert adapted for individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities or other neurodivergent needs,\u201d according to the news release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccommodations include reduced sound levels \u2014 particularly for sudden or loud passages \u2014 softer stage and house lighting and a smaller audience size to create a less overwhelming environment. Audience members are welcome to move freely, stand, dance or step out as needed. Talking, vocalizing and the use of electronic devices as communication tools are permitted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additional features might include flexible seating options and opportunities for close-up, interactive experiences with instruments, supported by trained volunteers.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong><u>ART<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In residence at UCA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two exhibitions by\u00a0artists in residence at the University of Central Arkansas\u00a0open with a 4-7 p.m. reception Thursday in the Baum Gallery of Art, Room 145 of McCastlain Hall at UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway:<\/p>\n<p>\u25fc\ufe0f \u201cAncestral Spirits: Stitching the Past to the Present,\u201d mixed-media fiber and quilted artworks by Alice Aida Ayers \u201cthat incorporate ethnic, hand-dyed and repurposed fabrics, as well as found objects, to create textured and layered pieces \u2026 that center storytelling around African and African American rituals and culture,\u201d according to a news release.<\/p>\n<p>\u25fc\ufe0f \u201cThe United States of Selfies: A #SELFIETHRONE for the People, A 250-Year American Portrait,\u201d in which Kat Wilson \u201cinvites every visitor to claim their place in the story of America\u201d by \u201csitting on the #SELFIETHRONE and sharing their image, \u201c(adding) their presence to a collective portrait two and a half centuries in the making.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both exhibitions will remain up through March 6. Admission to the reception and the exhibitions is free.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson will present an artist talk, 1:40-2:30 p.m. Thursday in Gallery III. The program honors the late Fred K.
