Matthew Lillard<\/strong> is speaking out on Quentin Tarantino<\/a>‘<\/strong>s recent criticism of his acting abilities.<\/p>\n In an appearance on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast,<\/a><\/em> on Dec. 2, 2025, Tarantino said he did “not care for” Lillard as well as Paul Dano<\/strong> and Owen Wilson.<\/strong> Following the podcast, Lillard, as well as Dano and Wilson, received an onslaught of support from numerous celebrities. Most notably, George Clooney<\/a><\/strong>who said he would be “honored to work with” any of them.<\/p>\n “It was crazy. I keep showing it to my wife to convince her that I am worthy, that people still like me,” Lillard told Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a>on Wednesday, Jan. 28.<\/p>\n He joked, “I am a piece of ass!” He also added, “I can’t imagine a more lovely reaction to what happened.”<\/p>\n Lillard also made it clear that there’s no hard feelings towards Tarantino.<\/p>\n “Nobody has to like me,” he said. “Nobody has to like any actor out there, obviously. It’s personal preference. I am not everyone’s first choice, that is obvious, but to then have that kind of reaction was beautiful.”<\/p>\n Lillard had also briefly addressed Tarantino’s comments in December<\/a> 2025 at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio.<\/p>\n “Listen the point is that it hurts your feelings. It f***ing sucks. And you wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise<\/a><\/strong>. You wouldn\u2019t say that to somebody who\u2019s a top-line actor in Hollywood,” he said at the time.<\/p>\n Lillard will be reprising his iconic Scream <\/em>role, Stu Macher, in the franchise’s upcoming seventh installment.
