White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said the administration is focused on encouraging Democratic officials to cooperate with federal agents \u201cremoving dangerous criminal illegal aliens,\u201d and called Springsteen\u2019s song \u201cirrelevant\u201d and inaccurate.<\/p>\n

Springsteen has been a longtime critic of the president, and Trump has called the singer \u201coverrated.\u201d Last year, Springsteen said the U.S. \u201cis currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.\u201d\u00a0Trump called Springsteen a \u201cdried out prune of a rocker\u201d in response.<\/p>\n

The song’s lyrics include, “A city aflame fought fire and ice\/\u2019Neath an occupier\u2019s boots\/King Trump\u2019s private army from the DHS.\u201d<\/p>\n

Springsteen also sings, \u201cOh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice\/Singing through the bloody mist\/We\u2019ll take our stand for this land.”<\/p>\n

The song’s lyrics include the names Pretti and Good.<\/p>\n

Pretti was identified by family as the man fatally shot by federal agents<\/a> during an immigration enforcement operation on Saturday. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said on social media that the individual had approached Border Patrol officers on Saturday with a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun. <\/p>\n

In videos of the shooting taken by bystanders, Pretti is seen with a phone in his hand. The footage does not appear to show him with a visible weapon. Family members said Pretti owned a handgun and had a permit to carry a concealed firearm in Minnesota.<\/p>\n

The fatal shooting happened just weeks after Good was\u00a0fatally shot by an ICE officer<\/a> during a traffic stop in a residential neighborhood in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

DHS said on social media that one of several \u201cviolent rioters\u201d attempted to \u201crun over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them\u2014an act of domestic terrorism.\u201d The agency said the ICE officer, \u201cfearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.\u201d<\/p>\n

State and local leaders disputed the claim that the ICE officer was acting in self-defense.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The song was released on Wednesday, January 28.<\/p>\n

“I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis,” Springsteen said on Instagram.<\/p>\n
