Billy Bragg<\/a> has released his new single, \u2018City of Heroes\u2019, in support of anti-ICE protestors in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

The English singer-songwriter has become the latest figure in the music industry to condemn the actions of the regime in the Minnesotan city<\/a> amid the killings of Alex Pretti of Renee Good at the hands of ICE officers this month.<\/p>\n

Bragg powerfully sings on the new track, \u201cWhen they came for the immigrants, I got in their face, When they came for the refugees, I got in their face, When they came for the five-year-olds, I got in their face, When they came to my neighbourhood, I just got in their face.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also looks back at history, and sings, \u201cIn Dachau, Martin Niem\u00f6ller, Suffered for his complicity, But in this city of heroes, We learn the lessons of history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, in a statement, Bragg said of the protest song, \u201cThe murder of Alex Pretti was horrifically shocking. All the more so as we are still reeling from the images of the murder of Renee Good. That these crimes can be committed in broad daylight, on camera and yet no one is held accountable only adds to the injustice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bragg\u2019s statement continued, \u201cI wrote this song as a tribute to the bravery of the people of Minneapolis. Knowing that these trigger-happy ICE thugs operate in their midst, they are still willing to put themselves in harm\u2019s way to defend their community.\u201d<\/p>\n

He passionately concluded, \u201cTheir resistance is an inspiration to us all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Similarly, Bruce Springsteen has also launched a scathing takedown of ICE\u2019s conduct<\/a>\u00a0in Minneapolis on his new single \u2018Streets of Minneapolis\u2019, which he has released in memory of Pretti and Good. He also called out \u201cthe state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the track, \u2018The Boss\u2019 obliterates the Trump regime and sings, \u201cA city aflame fought fire and ice, \u2018Neath an occupier\u2019s boots, King Trump\u2019s private army from the DHS, Guns belted to their coats, Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law, Or so their story goes.\u201d<\/p>\n
