{"id":2256368,"date":"2026-01-29T15:35:38","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T15:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2256368"},"modified":"2026-01-29T15:35:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T15:35:38","slug":"uk-home-entertainment-sector-grows-10-to-5-7bn-boosting-total-screen-industry-value-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/uk-home-entertainment-sector-grows-10-to-5-7bn-boosting-total-screen-industry-value-news\/","title":{"rendered":"UK home entertainment sector grows 10% to \u00a35.7bn, boosting total screen industry value | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"inline_image inline_image_left image_size_med\" data-attachment=\"1470378\" data-sequence=\"1\">\n<p class=\"picture\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The UK home entertainment sector grew 10% year-on-year in 2025 to \u00a35.7bn; contributing to a 5.4% increase in the total value of the UK screen industry, to \u00a313.3bn.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both figures are record totals, with growth also recorded across all measured sectors, according to figures released today by the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE).<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"Scroll_down_for_the_top_five_titles_in_each_format\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"jumpto\" href=\"#Top_five_charts\">Scroll down for the top five titles in each format<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The \u00a35.7bn UK home entertainment market value includes streaming, buying and renting films and TV shows.<\/p>\n<p>The entire UK media and entertainment market was valued at \u00a334bn for 2025, up eight percent year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wicked<\/em> was the top title across all transactional formats combined; and individually the top title for electronic sell-through (EST) and Blu-ray and DVD combined.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Streaming services continued to dominate home entertainment consumption, with 20.3m UK households subscribed to at least one service \u2013 up almost 500,000 on 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix led the UK market with 17.6m subscriptions, followed by Amazon Prime Video with 13.6m and Disney+ with 7.5m.<\/p>\n<p>Discovery grew its UK subscriber numbers to 3.2m, with Apple TV up to 2.8m and Now to 2m.<\/p>\n<p>Ad-supported streaming models also saw growth, with 23m such subscriptions in the UK by Q3 of last year, and 53% of all SVoD subscriptions now ad-supported.<\/p>\n<p>58% of UK adults now pay for at least one streaming service with ads, despite 55% of consumers reporting that they dislike ads.<\/p>\n<p>The theatrical-to-premium release window average came in at 44% days, 10% longer than 2024\u2019s 40-day window. An average additional 40-day window follows to standard EST, one day less than 2024.<\/p>\n<p>EST grew 7.4% in value in 2025, with digital rentals up 1.7%.
