Cameron Diaz<\/a> and Stephen Merchant<\/a> are set to star in an untitled romantic comedy film for Amazon MGM Studios<\/a>, TheWrap<\/a> has learned.<\/p>\n

Merchant will also direct will from a screenplay by he co-wrote with John Butler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The film follows a workaholic Brit employed at an upscale New York hotel (Merchant) who needs a wife for appearances. He strikes a deal with a struggling stand-up comic (Diaz<\/a>) who is desperate for health insurance. Their fake marriage starts as a transaction \u2013 but ends in a hilariously unexpected romance.<\/p>\n

Producers include Lee Eisenberg<\/a>, Merchant, and Point Grey Pictures\u2019 Seth Rogen<\/a>, Evan Goldberg<\/a>, James Weaver<\/a>, and Josh Fagen<\/a>. Natalie Sandy<\/a> will executive produce.<\/p>\n
