\n Actor Paul Dano<\/a> has broken his silence about Quentin Tarantino\u2019s<\/a> harsh criticism of him.\n <\/p>\n \n The \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d director launched a scathing attack on Dano during an interview with \u201cThe Bret Easton Ellis Podcast<\/a>\u201d in an episode released last month.\n <\/p>\n \n During the conversation, Tarantino said his fifth favorite film of the 21st century was \u201cThere Will Be Blood\u201d \u2013 but he added a caveat.\n <\/p>\n \n He said the 2007 movie, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, would have been his first or second favorite were it not for \u201ca big giant flaw in it, and the flaw is Paul Dano.\u201d Adding insult to injury, he went on to describe Dano as \u201csuch a weak, weak, uninteresting guy.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n Dano, who played two roles in the movie as identical twins Eli and Paul Sunday, didn\u2019t publicly address the director\u2019s comments, although some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest stars jumped to his defense.\n <\/p>\n \n Now, a reporter from Variety<\/a> has asked Dano at a 20th anniversary screening of \u201cLittle Miss Sunshine\u201d at the Sundance Film Festival about Tarantino\u2019s outburst.\n <\/p>\n \n Although Dano did not speak directly to Tarantino\u2019s comments, he said of the support he\u2019d received: \u201cThat was really nice. I was also incredibly grateful that the world spoke up for me so I didn\u2019t have to.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n Dano has received support from some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest names.\n <\/p>\n \n Toni Collette, who starred alongside Dano in the Oscar-winning movie \u201cLittle Miss Sunshine,\u201d said in the article published Wednesday: \u201cAre we really going there? F**k that guy (Tarantino).\u201d She added: \u201cWho does that?\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n Meanwhile, actor and director Ben Stiller posted on X<\/a> last month: \u201cPaul Dano is f-ing brilliant.\u201d And Reese Witherspoon said on Threads<\/a>: \u201cPaul Dano is an incredibly gifted, versatile actor. More importantly, he is a gentleman.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n During his speech for best actor at the AARP awards earlier this month, George Clooney said: \u201cI don\u2019t enjoy watching people be cruel to actors,\u201d adding that he would be \u201chonored\u201d to work with Dano.\n <\/p>\n \n The \u201cLittle Miss Sunshine\u201d directors also sprang to Dano\u2019s defense this week.\n <\/p>\n \n Jonathan Dayton told Variety that Tarantino\u2019s comments were an \u201cembarrassment,\u201d adding: \u201cI can only think that his (Dano\u2019s) rawness of his performance made Tarantino uncomfortable.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n Valerie Faris added: \u201cYou know what was interesting was the people coming out to defend Paul \u2026 he is loved by so many.
