Madonna has called the seaside town of Margate<\/a> her \u201cidea of heaven\u201d.<\/p>\n The singer<\/a> made the comments on social media after visiting her friend Dame Tracey Emin<\/a> at the artist\u2019s studio in the Kent town.<\/p>\n The 67-year-old said: \u201cThe whole town seems to be inhabited and energised by creativity \u2013 writers and performance artists, photographers and painters.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is my idea of heaven. Whenever I go there, I feel like I\u2019ve entered a dream.\u201d<\/p>\n The American pop singer has long had ties to the UK, having owned several properties in London over the years.<\/p>\n Madonna is friends with Dame Tracey Emin, the Margate artist<\/p>\n In her post about her trip to Kent, Madonna praised Dame Tracey<\/a>, calling her \u201ca pearl\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI have known Tracey for over 25 years and I\u2019ve always been a fan of her extremely personal and provocative work,\u201d she said. \u201cBut what she has created in this community by the sea is quite remarkable.\u201d<\/p>\n She said she was impressed by her friend\u2019s art school programme, the Tracey Emin Artist Residency, and the students on the programme.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m always struck by the commitment and passion of all of these artists \u2013 hungry, possessed, and extremely grateful to have this opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n The residency programme, which markets itself as a similar level to a Masters degree, offers a free, studio-based art school that \u201cencourages the development of studio practice\u201d.<\/p>\n Last year, Madonna visited central London to support her son Rocco\u2019s art show<\/a>. She and her ex-husband Guy Ritchie toured his Talk Is Cheap exhibition.<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
