If the streets are looking empty tonight at 19:30, then it\u2019s because everyone is huddled around televisions, watching the Iceland vs. Denmark semi-final handball game. We\u2019d venture to say almost every bar with a screen will be showing it, and every bar without a screen will tune in on the radio. V\u00edkan\u2019s cancelled, DJ sets are being pushed later \u2014 even if you\u2019re not a handball fan, there won\u2019t be much going on for that hour-or-so otherwise, so you might as well watch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Afterwards, there will be much to do. Kar\u00edtas<\/a><\/strong> will take the stage at Port 9, starting at 21:00. Izleifur<\/a><\/strong>, who just rolled out his latest album 100&EINN<\/em> this week, is offering a free concert in Gamla B\u00ed\u00f3. At I\u00f0n\u00f3, the ninth iteration of the concert series SAMPL<\/a><\/strong> opens the doors at 21:00, presenting Bjarni Dan\u00edel, Faroese rapper Mar\u00edus DC, DJ Flugv\u00e9l & Geimskip, and DJ Kollz.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, the annual Japan Festival<\/strong><\/a>, organised by students and teachers within the Bachelor\u2019s in Japanese Language & Culture programme at The University of Iceland, begins at 13:00! There will be a film screening, a Manga workshop, a Karate demonstration, and much more.<\/p>\n

The full title of the exhibition reads: <\/span><\/span>Affinities of Form:<\/span><\/span> <\/em>Artistic Convergences in Iceland since 1970<\/em>.<\/span><\/span> For this multimedia, multinational exhibition, guest curator Gavin <\/span>Morrison<\/span> and National Gallery curator Pari Stave have brought together a historical portrait of conceptual art in Iceland. Highlighting works directly inspired by Iceland, the pieces in the exhibition often focus on the stark, textured environment of the country alongside reverence for Icelandic nature. Concurrently, the exhibition Architecture of Place <\/em>will open at the same time. Joined by saxophonist Tumi \u00c1rnason and theremin expert Hekla Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir, Salka will present her songs, and share the inspiration and process behind them.
