Comedian Alan Carr<\/a> has confessed to accidentally revealing his victory on the <\/span>BBC<\/a>‘s Celebrity Traitors<\/em><\/a> just 12 hours after filming the final episode, admitting he “felt so stupid.”<\/p>\n

Carr, 49, was a ‘traitor’ on the celebrity edition of the popular reality series, <\/a>which aired last autumn.<\/p>\n

He dramatically secured the win, <\/a>triumphing over faithful contestants, historian David Olusoga and actor Nick Mohammed, in a tense finale.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking on BBC Radio 2\u2019s The Scott Mills Breakfast Show<\/em>, Carr explained that the secret of his triumph on The Celebrity Traitors<\/em> slipped out<\/a> during the filming of Channel 4’s gameshow Secret Genius.<\/em><\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI felt so stupid. When I did The Traitors<\/em>, I looked at my work diary and my agent had actually put in work after the first week, and I said \u2018oh no, I\u2019m doing The Traitors<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018Alan, you\u2019ll be out first week with your motor mouth, you aren\u2019t going to last\u2019. Then it kept going on and on.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI thought I would be gone on day two.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThe cameraman goes \u2018congratulations\u2019, and I go \u2018how did you know I won?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said \u2018I didn\u2019t, I was just joking, just teasing\u2019. So I told them within 12 hours that I had won The Traitors<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian told Mills he then tried to retract his comment, and said: \u201cI went, \u2018haha, got you!\u2019 \u2013 I had to backtrack, because you can\u2019t tell anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I did well, and I didn\u2019t want to spoil it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carr also said that since appearing on The Traitors<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> which became a cultural touchstone and was a ratings winner for the BBC, he has been recognised more.<\/p>\n

The comedian spoke about his recent holiday to Mexico, and said: \u201cI\u2019m never spotted over there, and I was on the way to the pool and I heard this woman from the balcony, \u2018I see you, traitor. Don\u2019t you hide your face from me. Who are you going to murder today?’\u201d<\/p>\n

He joked that the comments made him look like a real murderer, and said: \u201cPeople who don\u2019t know I was in The Traitors<\/em> must think I\u2019m a serial killer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, The Traitors <\/em>follows a group of contestants \u2013 the majority of whom are known as faithfuls \u2013 as they try to seek out the murderous traitors among them<\/a> who kill off players in the middle of the night in an attempt to win a cash prize.<\/p>\n

Set in the Scottish Highlands, the contestants complete a number of challenges to win money for the prize pot and must try to find the traitors and banish them at a roundtable discussion each night.<\/p>\n

The celebrity version of the show saw Carr and his fellow traitors murder a string of faithfuls, including his friend singer Paloma Faith, actress Celia Imrie, comedian Lucy Beaumont and Olympic diver Tom Daley.<\/p>\n

However, the comedian remained largely under the radar during his time on the show, and was crowned the winner during its series finale.<\/p>\n
