Queen Camilla led tributes to Dame Jilly Cooper on Friday as
\nactors, authors and friends gathered at Southwark Cathedral on
\nFriday to celebrate the life of the novelist whose racy

\nCooper\u2019s work to a new generation. Danny Dyer, David Tennant, Alex
\nHassell, Bella Maclean, Victoria Smurfit and Aidan Turner were
\namong the actors seen entering the cathedral alongside writers,
\nbroadcasters and family friends.<\/p>\n
\nhusband, the actor Stanley Tucci, who drew smiles from mourners by
\ncarrying a tote bag bearing the words \u201cI love Jilly Cooper\u201d.
\nSpeaking outside the service, Tucci described the author as
\n\u201cextraordinary \u2013 a brilliant writer, a nice person and naughty\u201d,
\nadding that her books had changed the lives of countless readers,
\nincluding his wife.<\/p>\n
\nCaitlin Moran, Derek Jacobi and Nicky Haslam were also among those
\npresent, alongside former England football captain Tony Adams and
\nbroadcasters Gyles Brandreth and Helen Lederer.<\/p>\n
\ninjuries in an accidental fall at her Gloucestershire home. An
\ninquest later concluded that she died from a traumatic subdural
\nhaematoma, with no suspicious circumstances. Her children, Felix
\nand Emily, said at the time that the family had been left in
\n\u201ccomplete shock\u201d by her sudden death.<\/p>\n
\njournalist in the 1950s, becoming known for her candid writing on
\nlove, marriage and social life. She published her first book,
\nHow to Stay Married<\/em>, in 1969 before turning to fiction,
\nwhere she found enduring fame chronicling the passions, rivalries
\nand absurdities of England\u2019s upper-middle classes.<\/p>\n
\npublishing partnership that lasted half a century. Over that time
\nshe produced eighteen novels and more than twenty works of
\nnon-fiction, most famously the Rutshire Chronicles, and sold more
\nthan 11 million books in the UK alone.<\/p>\n
\nadaptation of Rivals<\/em> brought renewed attention to an
\nauthor often described as both scandalous and sharp-eyed \u2013
\ncelebrated for her wit as much as her explicit prose.<\/p>\n
\npreviously spoken publicly of her affection for Cooper, recalling
\nwith amusement the novelist\u2019s irreverent humour and exuberant
\npersonality. In a quiet moment after the service, the Queen was
\nphotographed beside a portrait of the author, standing with the
