The Duchess of Edinburgh teamed up with the Duke of Kent to help
\nthe elder royal statesman mark a special anniversary.<\/p>\n
As the Duke celebrated fifty years as the Chancellor of the
\nUniversity of Surrey, he was joined by Duchess for the
\nfestivities.<\/p>\n
Sophie swapped her usual prince called Edward for another to
\ntake part in the celebrations.<\/p>\n
It was just one part of a busy day for the two royals at the
\nuniversity with space also on the agenda.<\/p>\n
Their day out involved meetings to find out more about
\nmultidisciplinary teaching and research across medicine and
\nengineering.<\/p>\n
There was also a chance to head into the Space Centre at the
\nUniversity. The two royals toured the laboratories to see more of
\nthe cutting edge work being developed there.<\/p>\n
They were given a tour of a student designed pod. It is planned
\nto use it to launch satellites into space. Researchers were on hand
\nto explain the technology being worked on and both the Duke of Kent
\nand the Duchess of Edinburgh took a keen interest in all they were
\nbeing shown.<\/p>\n
During her time at the University, Sophie also met medical
\nstudents who are learning in the facility\u2019s collaborative wards.
\nAnd there was more leading technology on show as the Duchess of
\nEdinburgh joined a virtual reality session in anatomy.<\/p>\n
After all that, Sophie sat down with this Prince Edward for a
\ncup of tea and the strong relationship between them was on show as
\nthey chatted happily together.<\/p>\n
The Duchess of Edinburgh has shown a knack for teaming up with
\nother royals for days out. She\u2019s famously accompanied Prince
\nWilliam on several engagements before.<\/p>\n
And at Trooping the Colour in 2024, she and the Duke of Kent
\nwere in the carriage that led out the royal procession as the
\nfamily made its way to Horse Guards Parade in teaming rain.<\/p>\n
