Naomi Watts earned her star power as an actress, but over the past few years, she\u2019s earned her, ahem, stripes, as a beauty and wellness brand founder with the launch of menopause-focused Stripes Beauty<\/a> and <\/em>become something of a menopause advocate<\/a>, even publishing a book, Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I\u2019d Known About Menopause<\/em><\/a>. In the midst of it all\u2014including starring in the show All\u2019s Fair<\/em><\/a>, renewed for a second season (of the megawatt cast, she says, \u201cwe all really love each other\u201d) and filming a new \u201cfamily drama\u201d with Sarah Paulson\u2014she keeps it simple in her everyday life, especially when it comes to beauty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI certainly wouldn\u2019t have predicted that this [is] where I\u2019d be in life, running a company,\u201d Naomi tells Good Housekeeping<\/em>. \u201cWhen I was told I was going into early menopause, I was filled with panic and shame\u2014it was a lonely, scary time and I wished there were more resources.\u201d She then resolved to become a resource: \u201cIt took a long time for me to understand my symptoms and skin being the biggest one\u2014it is reactive, it\u2019s sensitive, it\u2019s dry, it\u2019s itchy, it\u2019s burning, and all of the skincare I was using was no longer working and actually aggravating it,\u201d Naomi says.<\/p>\n

After a \u201cdeep dive,\u201d she discovered it was all related to the loss of estrogen and hydration that comes with menopause. \u201cI was looking for something that\u2019s really speaking to me, where I am at this moment, not promising the world, and I need the community and education that goes with navigating this,\u201d Naomi explains. When she couldn\u2019t find that, she created it and Stripes Beauty was born.<\/p>\n

Starting with skincare (of course), we chatted with Naomi about all of the must-haves she can\u2019t live without from home to the red carpet, including the minimalist makeup she carries in her bag, the pan she cooks with, and the perfect white T-shirt her friend created. Listen in\u2026<\/p>\n

When dreaming up this body butter, \u201cwe wanted luxurious hydration but also firming, so it\u2019s filled with a blend of nine peptides plus hyper moisturizers like shea and cocoa butters, squalane, and ectoin,\u201d Naomi says. \u201cWe really packed it [with ingredients]\u2014we got pushback from our development team at certain stages because we couldn\u2019t put anything else in it.\u201d <\/p>\n

You add this electrolyte powder to water and \u201cit\u2019s so good first thing in the morning,\u201d Naomi says. \u201cIt feels like you\u2019re getting a lot of glasses of water in one.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe body oil is a game-changer: We normally see vitamin C just for face, but we wanted the body to have the same kind of care as the skin does,\u201d Naomi explains. \u201cThe other day, the weather was cold and my skin was dry and crepey so I paired this with the body butter\u2014the cream first, then the oil as a finishing step for that amazing glow.\u201d She adds that \u201cit absorbs so fast, I can put it on just before I slip on a silk dress and zoom out the door for the red carpet.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI cook a lot, at least three nights a week, and this is my favorite pan,\u201d Naomi says. \u201cIt\u2019s ceramic, cleans so easily, and doesn\u2019t get sticky\u2014I\u2019ve gone through quite a few of them over the years.\u201d

\u201cI\u2019m obsessed with keeping my eyebrows looking clean and Kosas does a great eyebrow pencil that I love and works really well for me,\u201d Naomi says.<\/p>\n

Naomi also calls sunscreen one of her go-to products. \u201cWith sunscreen, I want to make sure I am getting full coverage,\u201d she says. \u201cWe love La Roche-Posay\u2014it\u2019s a great brand I use for the face and body.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy eyes get so sensitive as I\u2019ve entered into midlife and beyond, so I am really reluctant to use anything too heavy or oil-based,\u201d Naomi explains. \u201cI use this micellar water anytime I remove eye makeup because it\u2019s gentle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I’m not working, I love to give my makeup a rest\u2014the most I’ll use is a little lip balm or a lip color,\u201d Naomi says. \u201cFor on the go, I like to have a few lipsticks I can repurpose for cheeks\u2014I use [makeup artist] Charlotte Tilbury\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m a jeans and T-shirt girl and my friend\u2019s brand Sold Out does a great one,\u201d Naomi raves. \u201cThey are really nice cotton and just the right fit\u2014sometimes T-shirts are either too long or too short, but this hits in the exact right spot so you don’t have to tuck it in or worry that your belly’s going to come out.\u201d<\/p>\n
