Catherine O\u2019Hara<\/strong><\/a> was rushed to the hospital hours before she died at the age of 71<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson told Us Weekly<\/em> that paramedics arrived at O\u2019Hara\u2019s home in the Brentwood neighborhood of L.A. at 4:48 a.m. on Friday, January 30, in response to a call for medical aid.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Hara was then transported to a nearby hospital in \u201cserious\u201d condition.<\/p>\n

Us<\/em> confirmed O\u2019Hara\u2019s death on Friday. TMZ was first to report the news.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Hara died at her home in Los Angeles \u201cfollowing a brief illness,\u201d her agency, Creative Artists Agency, said in a statement to Us Weekly\u00a0on Friday, January 30. The actress was known for her roles on TV shows<\/a> such as Schitt\u2019s Creek, The Last of Us<\/em> and The Studio<\/em>, as well as in movies including Beetlejuice, Home Alone, Best in Show<\/em> and more.<\/p>\n

Months before her death, O\u2019Hara attended the 2025 Emmy Awards<\/a>, where she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance on The Studio<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled for all the lovely people on the show and honored to be in their company,\u201d she said in a statement while celebrating her nomination. \u201cAnd I\u2019m so happy Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese are finally getting some much deserved attention thanks to The Studio!\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Hara lost the award to Hacks<\/em> star Hannah Einbinder<\/strong>, but The Studio<\/em> picked up a total of four Primetime Emmys<\/a>, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Seth Rogen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s awards season success continued at the Critics Choice Awards<\/a> and Golden Globes<\/a> earlier this month, but O\u2019Hara did not attend either ceremony with her costars.<\/p>\n

While reflecting on her impressive career in an interview with Variety<\/em><\/a>, O\u2019Hara admitted she didn\u2019t necessarily view herself as a Hollywood icon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think of myself like that, but it\u2019s nice that others do,\u201d she said in 2025. \u201cThere\u2019s no better survival instinct [than a sense of humor]. You\u2019re so lucky if you\u2019re raised with it. It\u2019s one of God\u2019s greatest gifts, because life is full of the dark and the light. You gotta look for the light. My parents were both really funny, and a sense of humor was always appreciated. Laughing and being funny was highly encouraged at our table.\u201d<\/p>\n
